CONTENT SUMMARY
Today was another session with little content, similar to last week's. Introducing with a small 15-20 minute talk, Peter advised us to work on our upcoming presentations which are due in the following session. A couple of points Peter raised about the assignment and future projects that I found helpful were:
The design and presentation of the group presentation is as crucial as the information gathered for receiving a good mark for the project.
We are to be critical and observant of the other groups presentation when providing feedback.
This project, and the subsequent projects to come, are at the core a test of how we operate in groups which will come into play later for our final 36 week project.
When Peter approached our group he commented on the aesthetics of our slides pretty much alluding to the fact that our presentation was quite basic. We explained that this was just the very beginning of our presentation, and we hadn't even started collating each members research onto the slides. The presentation was the last part of our project. Peter also answered any lingering questions we may have had before leaving us to work on our project and complete our meeting minutes sheet.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS
Prior to this class my research was complete (PEST analysis), however along with condensing my research for the slides and planning what I am going to say/present to the class, I have to also research the rest of the history section of the project. This is due to a setback that occurred during the session today but although it is inconvenient, I believe I will be able to tackle it and complete it before our scheduled Zoom call.
I'm not worried about my progress in this unit at this point in time. The deadlines for when our research was due within our groups I have met and I know I will be able to input and complete the remainder of the work that is needed prior to next week's session. The skills that will need to be applied in order for this to succeed will be; time management, deliberate practice, cooperativeness, and a strong work ethic.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - GROUP DYNAMICS
A couple of revelations occurred within our group during the session today. First off, Cody was not present but did inform us a couple hours prior to class with a reasonable explanation. The research for the history section of the project, which was Bryce's responsibility, had not been completed as we had set out during last week's meeting minutes. Lastly, during class Bryce advised he was dropping the unit which took the group by surprise. I was a little disappointed that Bryce left halfway through the session leaving Kieran, Jack and myself to sort out the rest of the project. Luckily he compiled what research he had gathered on a Google document that he shared with us last week.
These events did throw a spanner in the works but, the three of us managed to plan out what was required to get our presentation ready for next week. With Kieran as the chairperson and myself as the minute taker we filled out the "Minutes of Meeting" document for week 3 (attached below). Both Jack and myself had completed our research and now had to condense and present our findings on the slides while also writing the flow we were going to use during the presentation. Kieran had completed most of his research, he just needed to put it into his own writing, present it on the slides and write his flow.
With Cody's absence however, we were at a loss as to how far we were along with the timeline and part of the distribution section as this was responsibility. The history section was also left half finished with Bryce's departure from the unit. To remedy this, I took on the task of finishing the research, presenting it along with the write up of the flow. A Zoom call on Monday was proposed and agreed on to review and finalize the project and in-between now and then I was to contact Cody to see where he's at with the timeline. If all goes as we have planned it today, then we should be locked and loaded for the presentation next session.
