CONTENT SUMMARY
There were more students than last week due to many of them being absent during the first week. Peter quickly summarized what we had learned in the previous lesson for them and as a quick refresher for the rest of the class that was present last week. Following the summary, Peter explained the meeting minutes google document we were to save and complete during every session as a way of documenting our group dynamics.
The remainder of the session was dedicated to working on our upcoming project: Past Creative Figures. As the students who were absent during the previous session were not already paired, Peter gave them the opportunity to join a group of their choosing. Cody, another audio student and friend of mine, joined my group. As chairman of the group for this session, I delegated the topics between the 5 of us just like the previous session. As Kieran, Bryce, Jack, and myself had already collated a small amount of research for the project we decided to give one of the topics to research as well as help with one of Kieran's topics.
When it came time for us to decide how we wanted to communicate, Cody advised everyone of Google Chat which worked out perfectly with a group this big. After compiling everyone's student ID, email, contact details on a Google Sheet and created a group chat for us all to stay in touch, we used the remainder of the session time to complete the minute meeting sheet so we could plan for the next week. Collectively we decided that if we had all of our topics researched and fleshed out by next week's session we would be able to possibly complete it before week 4, easing our workload.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS
There was no new content provided to us during the session this week and as such we were able to work on our projects in our teams. During class Peter explained that some disruptors won't actually have any factors relating to the political, economic, social-cultural, and technological parts of the PEST analysis. This was reliving to hear, I had not found any information suggesting that auto-tune affected or was affected by the political environment at that time.
As I have already gathered a sizeable amount of information, my homework was to flesh out my answers on the PEST analysis and possibly have them flow better for when we present to the class in week 4. My information is already very well formulated and I have a decent amount of information already, however I feel there is still more I could possibly find. For example, I have only skimmed through half of the article I referenced (https://pitchfork.com/features/article/how-auto-tune-revolutionized-the-sound-of-popular-music/), so I may want to sit down one night over the next 7 days and dissect some more information.
Looking forward, I definitely see my leadership, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills developing. Time management is still very hit and miss, but planning my week out ahead of time should help with over coming those issues. I am looking forward to how this class will unfold over this trimester.
POST CLASS REFLECTION - GROUP DYNAMICS
Reflecting back on the session this week, I have to pat myself on the back for rising to the role of chairman and helping guide the group. It was warming knowing that my team mates had done their own extensive research on each of the topics which has put our group at a significant head start. Having the addition of Cody is also great as this lessens the workload even more for each of us and even with his addition I think we are well past the forming stage.
We are in the storming stage as we are starting to question each others methods and work, which is a good thing. Each of us are giving the others critiques and suggesting additional information for each of our topics. As Kieran, Bryce and myself have worked with each other all throughout trimester 1, this is not unexpected and with Cody and Jack as our other team members I can see us progressing through to the norming stage. Each of us have something unique to bring to the table.
