PRE-CLASS ACTIVITIES
No pre-class activities were asked of us this week as we are working on our projects in class today. The third and final project is due next week in week 13. There is a list of activities for the upcoming project I will need to work on in class today to help with the upcoming workload
Compare projects with peers.
Feedback from Sam regarding projects but more specifically my diffuser measurements.
Start preparing my final reflection for the module.
IN-CLASS SUMMARY
There weren't that many of my fellow students in the session today and Sam definitely seemed to notice. He advised that this was the session that will uplift your grade for the module and how invaluable it was. This was to be the session for us to get any feedback regarding our learning journals, projects (both past and upcoming), past reflections and, our final reflection for the module to be presented in class next week.
For this session I used my time to work on my upcoming project due end of next week as well as touching up some of my of my missed journal entries. Sam reviewed everyone's assignment and gave everyone feedback in regards to there progress. He helped by explaining how I would be able to find the low and high frequency when inputting it into the diffuser calculator. Depending on my resonant frequency I would just double it to get a frequency I can afford to treat. This will be of great help for when I decide to build a diffuser for my home studio in the future; the one I made for this upcoming project only targets frequencies between 3000hz and 5000hz. The Australasian Supplies website was shown to me and Kieran by Sam. They sold high quality insulation and materials to help with acoustic treatment and Sam vouched for it as he had purchased from there prior. Another resource that will be great for future acoustic treatment.
POST-CLASS REFLECTION
This is it, the final session of the trimester. I am very proud of myself and how far I have come with this module. To think that prior to walking in through Sam's doors I knew nothing and was fearful of failing or not grasping the concepts, it almost seems so foreign to me. It's not been an easy road however, I have fought extremely hard to be here at SAE and there were times I felt like throwing the towel in and if it weren't for Sam's feedback and engaging way of teaching there's a strong possibility I may have.
I've learnt that I am capable of anything I put my mind to, to push for excellence with everything and, to take pride in my work. It's not over just yet though, there are still two major pieces of work that are to be submitted/presented but, I am confident I will have them done and dusted on time. Now is not the time to drop the ball!
For my final project, I still have the frames to construct and another diffuser to make along with applying the treatment. I am relived that I have been doing my write up as I've progressed with this project so that should make the final stretch that much easier. I'm having a lot of fun with this project. With my final reflection, this shouldn't be too difficult as I am confident in my self reflection and design skills. There is a lot to reflect on over this module this trimester, so I'll have to include that it as concisely as I can while also adhering to what Sam is asking of us for the final presentation.
As mentioned in my in-class summary, there was only a handful of students in the session today. It's weird to see how small the session has gotten since the beginning of the trimester. Regardless of my final holistic mark, I have to give myself a massive pat on the back and I am beyond thrilled with what I have accomplished and present for this module and I am looking forward to having Sam as my lecturer in the later trimesters.
