Sport Level 2 Diploma

Course Summary

Are you curious about the body and how it responds to exercise? Are you interested in an athlete's lifestyle and how they cope with the demands of training and competing? Are you keen to develop your leadership skills in a sports capacity? If so, this course could be a great choice for you!

The Cambridge Technical Level 2 Diploma is an exciting choice of course which will see students gain a valuable skillset ready to progress onto a level 3 programme, further training or directly into employment. Students will gain valuable experience studying a variety of concepts associated with sport, as well as developing a range of key skills such as leadership, team work, confidence, literacy and numeracy. This is a rewarding, applied course which is theory and practically based; it required a good level of organisation and commitment from students.

To achieve the qualification students will complete various work based projects and assignments that are based on realistic sporting situations, activities and demands.

How is the course assessed?

The course is predominantly assessed through vocationally relevant coursework assignments and projects, applying your knowledge and understanding of a range of key concepts.

  • Planning and Leading Sports Activities

Progression skills and opportunities

Assignments will promote the development of your skills such as describing, explaining, evaluating, comparing and contrasting in order to support future progression onto a Level 3 programme, further training or directly into employment.

Will I need any specialist materials or equipment?

You will need sports kit for all practical based lessons. An online text book will be available to support your understanding of key concepts. QM Sports kit is available via our supplier.

Previous student's progression

Kelsey came from the Vyne School, she was disappointed with her results however she learnt to work effectively in class and manage her time well. She progressed onto Cambridge Technical Level 3 in Sport & Physical Activity. She is now at the University of Chichester training to be a Primary School Teacher.

Oliver enrolled at QMC, after moving from outside the area, he was a successful student on Level 2. He became proficient at meeting deadlines and focussing in lessons. He progressed to Cambridge Technical L3 Sport & Physical Activity and now has an apprenticeship as a Sports Coach.
