Duke of Edinburgh Award (Silver or Gold)

Pre-requisites

None - any young person can do their DofE! Bronze is not a pre-requisite for Solver so don't worry if you did not complete that at school.

Course description

A life-changing experience. A fun time with friends. An opportunity to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement; respected by employers.

There are four sections to complete at Solver and five at Gold. they involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.

Delivery

The group is not timetabled as such, although have regular meetings/sessions to ensure participants are familiar with the requirements of the award they are following, can use eDofE effectively and attend planning sessions as required. Training for the expedition section is delivered in conjunction with Hampshire County Council.

Assessment

The eDofE online platform enables students to submit evidence for the relevant sections and the expedition is assessed externally.

Cost

Will depend on the level of pursuing. Costs include participation fee, course administration and expedition related fees (transport, campsite, equipment etc). The college currently runs the Award through Hampshire County Council and as such the fees include provision of qualified staff for the expedition training and assessment, although this may change in the future. As such, fees will vary from year to year.
