Reading

Students will analyze the structures and elements of argumentative text and explain the author’s purpose in using tools, techniques, and structures.

Writing

After planning with a graphic organizer, students will draft an argumentative composition that includes a clear, central idea/claim, an introduction/conclusion, and two-three facts, details, or explanations that support the central idea/claim. Students then reflect on their drafts and how closely they connect to their planning.

Math

I will represent the product of 2 two digit numbers using an area model. I will explain how using an area model helps me solve multiplication problems.

Social Studies

I can identify and analyze each explorer and their major contributions and motivations. I will identify the effects of exploration on the growth of Texas.

I can identify the characteristics of conductors and insulators.

Every Friday, students are invited to donate $1 to Slaughter's Relay for Life team, to wear a hat to school.

The high schools in McKinney are teaming up with other McKinney schools and organizations to collect food items to feed families in need for the holidays. We're collecting the following items: canned corn, canned green beans, instant mashed potatoes, boxed Jello, instant gravy packets.
