State testing dates are coming up in April. On these days, it's extremely important that all students are present and on time, and we want everyone to know that visitors are not allowed in the building. We want to protect the testing environment so students are able to focus and do their best!  Mark your calendars for the following dates: 3rd-5th STAAR Reading: April 11, 5th STAAR Science: April 18, 3rd-5th STAAR Math: April 23.

Our Spring Literati book fair is coming up at the end of March. We're partnering with H-E-B to collect plastic bags for recycling March 11-April 11! Bags can be from any retailer.  We will be in competition with other schools around the metroplex to collect the most bags!  Bags will be organized into groups of 25 if you'd like to pre-count and group at home.  Thank you for your participation! ♻️

Our lost and found is overflowing.  When you come to school for GMS, please stop by the lost and found and look for missing items.

Spring Break is coming up!  School will be closed March 11-15, as well as Monday, March 18. Students can access digital learning resources to keep their brain's active over the break. Log into our single sign-on platform: sso.mckinneyisd.net

Slaughter now has access to a positive character development program called “Character Strong-Purposeful People” for teachers to use during community circle time. Please read the introduction letter linked here to learn more! Monthly family newsletters will be linked about the skills and strengths being taught each month. Each letter will include some ways to build these skills at home, discussion starters, and fun challenges you can try with your family. The positive character trait for the month of January is perseverance.
