Are you interested in repairing and maintaining chromebooks? Do you enjoy helping others? Or are you just fascinated with technology in general? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should join the Student I.T. Helpdesk Club! With no prior expertise needed to join the club, whether you are a tech geek or don't even know what a battery is, the I.T. club will train you how to work at Crossroads.
The Student I.T. Helpdesk Club allows you to work at Crossroads during your free mods to earn volunteer hours. Because the club provides passes to be excused from your study hall(s), those free mods can include study halls for freshmen and sophomores. Working at crossroads is a great way to learn how to repair, maintain, and disassemble a chromebook. Especially if you are interested in pursuing anything computer or IT related in college, this is an awesome opportunity to earn hands-on experience.
Club meetings are after school every other Wednesday from 3:15-4:15. They mostly consist of hands-on activities as well as training for troubleshooting chromebook issues. Through these meetings, you will become prepared for work at Crossroads. For example, as part of training, in the last meeting the club took apart a chromebook and then reassembled it. By doing this, the club members could identify the individual parts that make up a chromebook (i.e. battery, motherboard, daughterboard, etc.).
Last year the club expanded its outreach to more members and is hoping to provide more hands-on activities for new members this year. The goal of Student I.T. Helpdesk Club is to help kids understand the foundation of technology in the I.T. industry. In the beginning, Student I.T. Helpdesk Club was created out of student interest, and ever since has continued to grow in their membership and programs.
