Nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson For Supreme Court Justice

As many of you may be watching on TV, Ketanji Brown Jackson has been nominated to be Supreme Court Justice for Justice Stephen Breyer. Before her nomination, Jackson was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeal. But this journey to her nomination started when Jackson was a teen. Growing up in Miami, Jackson’s dream was to receive a judicial appointment, as she had shared in her high school yearbook. From high school, she was accepted into Harvard for her undergraduate degree, and 4 years after that she was accepted into Harvard’s law school.

As I am writing this article, Jackson is still going through her confirmation hearings. The vote on whether to elect Jackson to the Supreme Court will be held on April 4th. By the time you may be reading this, Jackson may already be the first black woman to serve on the Supreme Court. Jackson should pass through the Senate confirmation as she did last year when Jackson was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals. In that specific vote, Jackson passed the senate with a 53-44 vote, getting the support of all 50 Democrats as well as 3 Republicans. But no matter how the voting may end out, it is clear that Jackson is very much qualified to serve as a Supreme Court Justice.

Ketanji Brown is now the first Black woman to be

nominated to the Supreme Court.
