Nisky’s Alpine Skiing Team

Alpine Skiing: an underrated sports team. Our alpine skiing team is preparing to hit the slopes this season as it finally begins to snow. Coach Skufca, who has been coaching for our school for 6 years, is very eager to get back out to the slopes and watch his skiers improve. Oddly enough— unlike other sports— the opposing schools often find themselves on the same hill cheering each other on.

After talking with two of the team's captains—senior Madison Geer and junior Cambria Tomko—it was obvious that this sport really stuck with them, as they both plan to continue skiing through their college years. The two were very grateful for all that the school has provided, the usage of the weight room, practice areas, etc. Not only the administration, but our own students help raise money through the booster club for the races.

However, it is clear that there are more skiers out there, and Coach Skufca understands that it is a lot to ask, but  if you already know how to race, consider joining.If not, then consider watching the amazing team and spreading some Niskayuna spirit.
