The Women Our Mothers Were
To the Women Our Mothers Were,
We will never know you,
no matter how much we want to.
No matter how our curiosity swells
We will never know you.
We will not see you young and free,
living life before life became about living.
We will never get to laugh with you by our side,
our laughter unburdened by the weight of worlds.
We will not see you, when you could have had anything.
When the world was your oyster,
when the stars were easily within reach.
We will never see you achieve your dreams.
We cannot warn you against the path you’ll lead,
because we are selfish at heart.
One day you’ll know us.
You will see us and all we will be.
You will help us achieve our dreams,
the ones you never got to grasp.
You will get to know every part of us,
but we will never know you.
Maybe we will catch glimpses of you,
flash frames of the people you
once were.
But we will never know you before we
came and ruined everything.
The Women Our Mother’s Were
Before us.

Writing has always been a way for me to be creative and express myself. I like challenging myself, and trying new ways of writing. For me, writing will always be something I love, and I hope I will be able to continue writing!
