The toxic smell of exhaust runs through the air, slowly choking everything
Sharp, loud sounds of the doors closing break the midnight silence
Slow rumbling surrounds, trees pass by quickly
They’re keeping an eye out
The moon shines down through the windshield, begging to be watched
Leaning slightly as the road slowly curves, the world tilting to match
Chirps from the crickets echo out as the window rolls down
The wind quickly hits your face, the coolness pinching the skin
Lessening to sharp little nips as the world slows, the bright red light shining down
Silence grows, snapping out of a daze as red changes to green
Street lights become more frequent, lighting up the barren streets
Turning left, narrowly dodging the stray, almost invisible, monster
Pulling into a spot that is marked for parking
Everything is lit up, every detail open to the world's judging eyes
It’s stopped, everything is still now
It’s calming
Blue and white merge together against the beige brick
The bright light on the building shines
It’s telling a story
Pulling in
Walmart
To Her
To the one who has done it all
Teaching all there is to know
Walking
Tying shoes
Riding Bikes
Teaching how to live life
How to not hide
Going above and beyond, full of dedication
So many years gone away, giving care instead
Not once, but twice, has this process happened
Growing old as memories also grow
Time will not be wasted
It can’t
Time is too fragile
Many things must be said, but the most important is
Thank you
My name is Brigit, and I’m a senior in this class. I enrolled for this because I wanted to improve on my writing skills for different forms, such as poetry. My pieces here are both poems in which I’ve revised plenty of times to make sure they’re perfect in my standards.
