What is the Collaborative Investigation?
The Collaborative Investigation Process
The process involves four key elements which focus on planning, conducting and interpreting research:
Design proposal
Portfolio
Presentation
Reference List
Within the Google classroom, I have added a variety of past student examples to guide you along the way. Use these as an explicit model to illustrate the requirements of the project.
12 Step Process
Each key aspect of the collaborative investigation can be outlined through a 12 step process. Add this to your folder and use it to ensure your group stays on track.
Within our collaborative Google drive folder, I have created a project plan scaffold for you to complete prior to conducting your research. I have included due dates as an example, however, you are free to change the dates to best suit your research team.
This will promote accountability and ensure we remain on schedule. We will also have weekly check ins, where you will be required to meet with me, have questions or topics of discussion prepared and take minutes.
Research Teams
We will complete the project as part of small research teams. This means individuals will be assigned different roles and will collect different primary and secondary research and save all their documentation, planning and results in the collaborative Google drive folder. The class will then use that research to complete the individual assessment components. These roles include:
Secondary research - Lyllah, Gypsy
Primary research method 1 - Questionnaire - Rosie and Frankie - Jack and Lily
Primary research method 2 - Interview - Skyla and Darcy
Methodology justification -
Conclusion and recommendations -
Bibliography - Joint
Part A of your assessment, requires you to submit a research proposal for feedback. I have created a scaffold within the collaborative Google drive folder. This requires a brief outline of the methods/topics you intend to use and why.
Throughout the first week of class, I will teach you about key ideas necessary for the process, e.g sampling, research methods etc. You will then discuss with your group and apply the ideas to your proposal.
This will require organised collaboration outside of the classroom.
Add the portfolio sections sheet into your folder. This a brief outline of what each section of your portfolio will need to contain. Although we are at the beginning of our journey it is important to have the end goal in mind, so you know what you are striving for.
Please note: You will not be required to submit an 'acknowledgements' section for the CI.
