Was one of the few black dancers in the PNB company, named first black woman to take the role of soloist in the company. Lots of black women are not often given opportunities to play softer more feminine roles, but now that she is a soloist, she is breaking boundaries and making headway for other black women
After George Floyd's death, she took her art to the streets to support the BLM movement. Soon after she called for internal changes within PNB dance company and the diversity within.
A company (founded in 2019) that supports BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities to create new accessible dance for everyone and wants to shift the culture as a young generation of artists. Some artists that have inspired her are Josephine Baker, Arthur Mitchell, James Baldwin, and Alice Walker. She told Dance Magazine "Organizations need to think critically about: What are we showing as a ballet company? What are we saying, visually, and who are we leaving out? Whose story isn't being told? We need to serve not just one community, but all communities."
