Life at Springside - Headteacher's Blog

Promoting British Values at Springside

Through its curriculum, extra-curricular activities, teaching and learning, Springside Primary School will promote British Values. By doing so, we will ensure that all learners understand the values that have traditionally underpinned British society. The teaching of these values will promote cohesiveness within our school and community. We will prepare pupils for life in England where the population has an increasingly rich diversity of backgrounds, origins, beliefs and cultures by promoting the values on which our society has been built. By teaching pupils these values we will help all to become good citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Uniform

4th February 2023

This week, we have had a Uniform Week where we ensured that everyone was wearing uniform which matched our policy.

Here is a reminder of our expectations.

Jewellery

On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in school. The exceptions to this rule are: watches, plain stud earrings (in pierced ears), and small objects of religious significance. We ask the children to either remove these objects during PE and games, or if newly pierced, to cover earrings with a plaster (provided by the parent), to prevent them from causing injury.

 Footwear

We require all children to wear black shoes. Shoes with heels are not allowed for safety reasons. Trainers must not be worn for school, although they may be brought to school to wear outside at playtime or lunchtime. We ask children to change out of boots, especially during bad weather. Wellington boots are needed for wet or snowy weather and children will be asked to change as they come inside school. Boots will not be allowed inside school.

Children may wear black shoes or their black PE plimsolls inside school.

Good quality second hand uniform

If you are struggling or you need some extra uniform, school has a good selection of good quality second hand uniform which can be obtained for free. We will have days when this uniform is displayed for parents to take but if you need help between these times, just ask a member of staff and we will be happy to provide this for you.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Virtual Move Up Day 2021

We hope you all enjoyed your virtual 'Move Up Day' this week. Unfortunately, we are saying goodbye to a couple of members of staff. Mrs Hughes has decided to take her retirement and we wish her all the best, although we hope she will return to us on occasions to cover as a supply teacher if needed. Due to finance issues,  we are also losing Mrs Hales our Parent Support Adviser and also Technola so Miss Conley will no longer be with us. We are very sad to see all 3 of these staff leave but we hope they will all move on to new positions which are as rewarding as their placements with us.

Enjoy your last few days in school children!

Come on England!

We wish the English team the best of luck in the final on Sunday! Win or Lose, don't forget about our school Football Party on Monday morning.

It's coming home!

Good Luck!

Good luck to our Bury born England player Kieran Trippier!
