Pupil Premium
Purpose
Publicly-funded schools in England get extra funding from the government to help them improve the attainment of their disadvantaged pupils.
Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds:
· generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school
· often do not perform as well as their peers
The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help disadvantaged pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.
For the 2023/2024 academic year the rates for all types of Pupil Premium will increase by 5% on the previous year:
Primary pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals, or have been eligible in the past 6 years: £1,455
Secondary pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals, or have been eligible in the past 6 years: £1,035
Pupils currently or previously looked after by a local authority or other state care: £2,530
