Nursery Admissions
Please contact the school office to put your child's name down for Nursery. Applications are posted out in January for a September admission.
Nursery Cohort over-subscription Criteria
Please note, children will not be selected by any other criteria such as academic ability or special educational needs, all children will have equal access according to the criteria below.
1. Children who have an older brother or sister in the school in September when the child is due to start (a brother or sister may be a full or step-brother or a full or step-sister, living at the same address, at the time of admission).
2. Children who intend to be admitted into Springside Primary reception class.
3. Shortest distance from home to school.
If applications are received after the closing date, they will be dealt with as late applications, and will not be considered until after those applications which were received on time.
Please see the Class Pages tab - EYFS - Acorns Weekly Learning - to find out about the exciting learning our nursery children experience in more detail.
Reception Admissions
Children are allocated places in accordance with the Authority’s admissions policy. This means that priority is given to children who have brothers or sisters at the school. The proximity of the child’s home address to the school is the second consideration.
At present, the school has a nursery class, reception and two infant (Key Stage 1) and four junior (Key Stage 2) classes. The school’s existing admission limit is 35. Nursery and Reception children are taught in the Early Years Foundation Stage Unit.
Parents are informed of the class organisation in the Summer Term when staffing levels and pupil numbers are known.
Please visit the council admissions page for an online admissions form.
Online Safety
The internet can be great fun. You can chat to your friends, play games and learn about new things. But sometimes things happen which can make you upset. People may say mean things which make you feel sad, or you may see something that you don’t like.
TELL AN ADULT YOU TRUST if you are upset or worried about something that has happened to you. They can help you to report it to CEOP.
If you don’t feel there is anyone you can talk to, there are people at Childline who will always listen to you. They won’t tell anyone else about what you’ve said, which means you can feel safe talking to them.
Cyber bullying is the name that is used when people use the online world to send nasty and upsetting messages to others.
Sometimes things happen which can make you upset. People may say nasty things to you which upset you, or you may see something that you don’t like.
If this happens, you must remember that it’s not your fault:
ALWAYS TELL A TRUSTED ADULT straight away if you are upset or worried about something that has happened online.
Remember to SAVE ANY MESSAGES that have upset you so you can show them to who you tell - they will be able to help, and they will be able to give you good advice about what else you can do. Never worry about getting in trouble - you aren’t the one who has done anything wrong.
If you don’t want to talk to a trusted adult, you may want to chat to someone else about how you feel. ChildLine is a site where you can have a private 1-2-1 chat with a counsellor who will listen to you and not judge you. You can also call them for free on 0800 1111 and it won’t show up on your phone bill.
