As part of Prestolee Multi Academy Trust, Springside Primary School has its own local governing board (LGB) with high levels of earned autonomy. This is outlined in the scheme of delegation that can be viewed below.
The role of the LGB is to:
1. Help the Trust achieve its strategic objective:
The Trust of choice, for children, parents and educators. A community of practice, where everyone belongs, learns and succeeds. Where every child receives a first-class education and is prepared for a future of possibilities
2. Have high aspirations and ensure every child succeeds
3. Work strategically to provide the highest levels of challenge and support
4. Ensure the school is the best it can be
5. Meaningfully engage with stakeholders and be a champion for their children, families and community
Governance is supported by the Board of Trustees, details of which can be found here. https://www.prestoleetrust.org/governance/

The Role of Governors
School governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and have an important role to play in raising school standards through their key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability, and monitoring and evaluating school performance.
The key thing to remember for all governors is that your role is to act in the best interests of all the pupils in the school - whether monitoring budgets or agreeing equality objectives, the underlying focus should be what difference this will make to the children in the school.
There is a lot of support for new and existing Governors through training and development, visit the Bury Governors for more information.
How to Become a Governor
If you are interested in becoming a governor, watch out for elections for parent governors, put your name forward at the school office or contact the chair of Governors and visit the National Governors Association website and Bury Council for more information.
