I have been a parent at Springside for several years and I relish the opportunity to take on the role of parent governor.
I have worked in education for 16 years, starting my career as a teaching assistant and spending the last 10 years as a primary school teacher. I have taught across all ages of the primary phase and I am currently teaching in EYFS and working as a special educational needs coordinator. As a qualified teacher, I have a solid understanding of the national curriculum and also the pedagogy of learning. I also understand the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all learners to thrive. I am currently studying towards a National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership, which involves keeping up to date with the latest research and current best practice in education.
Outdoor education is another passion of mine and I also run a Forest School business called NEST Woodland Adventures Ltd. We have successfully run holiday clubs in Bury, Heywood and Middleton where we promote wellbeing in nature and deliver a range of activities such as fire lighting, den building, campfire cooking and woodland crafts. I believe that school plays an integral part in our children’s development and initiatives such as forest school are important to support mental health and wellbeing.
