Spolek Hvozd 2024 1-14 June

The activities were themed on water management. Apart from the specific contents of various activities, we went on an excursion where we explained to the participants the principles of maintaining an orchard with the help of mulching, the principles of water recycling and the use of compost. We also visited a local cheesemaker and goat and cow breeder, as well as a local witness.

The activity was called Rain here, rain now, and was dedicated to the theme of water. We were engaged in the cultivation of the surroundings of the man-made lake, we paid attention to the aquatic flora, and also to the filtration system that we made ourselves. We reclaimed the underground rainwater tank. We also included a discussion of the principles of permaculture ethics in the program with Dominika. We also included in the evening part of the program common thematic sessions focused on getting to know the participants.

In the activity dedidated to the topic of water we built a filtration system for the rain water and subsequently started the filtration, which we then had to tune, and we learned to adjust the flow and pressure. Thanks to this filtration,  the element of water in the landscape has acquired an additional role, it is not only a possible water reserve for the orchard, but it is also water for man, thereby bringing man closer to the garden zone, and as a result, there will be a greater connection of the production garden. Volunteers also reclaimed the reedbad, planting a gravel filter field of plants that help clean the water.

The volunteers learned how to mow with the help of a local old settler, whom we managed to get involved, and then visited his old farm and found out a lot about the German history of the place. We also managed to channel the rainwater from the roof into the same pond, thereby increasing the flow of water.

In free time volunteers went to ferata in Děčín, it was more excited than we expected, and part of participants went to horseriding. Team was excelent, very connected.
