Sharing Zoom Recording Panopto Links Outside of Moodle

Panopto provides URL links to allow sharing outside of Moodle.

Share Panopto Links from the Confirmation Email

Similar to Zoom, Panopto will email you when your recording has finished processing and is ready to edit and/or share. You must turn on email notifications before you can use this method of link sharing.

  1. Record your video in Zoom to the Cloud as usual.

  2. When the recording has finished processing, you will receive two confirmation emails from Zoom, but you will also receive a third email from Panopto.

Note: If you did NOT receive an email from Panopto, you may access your recording by going to smith.hosted.panopto.com, navigating to the course folder containing your recording, hovering over the recording, and selecting Share.

  1. Select Share. Panopto will take you to that video’s Sharing Settings in your Panopto account. You will be prompted to login if you have not already.

  2. By default, your recordings will only be viewable by those who are enrolled in your Moodle course. Even if you are not using Moodle as your home base, you still have a Moodle course with students enrolled, so this will default for you as well.

To share recordings outside of the default Moodle group, select the drop down menu under Who Has Access and choose the appropriate permissions level.

Note: “Your Organization” refers to anyone who has an @smith.edu email address.

  1. Copy the URL in the Link field, then paste the URL into your preferred delivery platform (email, Google Doc, Slack Channel, etc.)

Pro tip: If you want to share a Zoom recording only with the participants from the meeting, set Who Has Access to Specific People, then select Add Meeting Participants. This allows you to send an email notification to those participants with the option to Play the video you shared.

Sharing Panopto Folders

You can also share entire folders from Panopto. If you set your Zoom recordings to sort by meeting ID, then your Zoom recordings will automatically appear in their specific folders after processing, and you can share that folder rather than having to post each link individually.

  1. Log into your Panopto account at smith.hosted.panopto.com

  2. Navigate to the course folder you wish to share by going to Browse > My Folders and selecting your desired folder.

  3. Once you’ve opened the folder you wish to share, select the Share icon in the upper right corner.
