Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make changes/improvements to the iPad configuration? The iPad Pro kits (11”, 128 GB) all have the same configuration: in a protective case with a syncing cable, AC adapter and Apple Pencil 2.

When should I submit a request to borrow an iPad? Requests for an upcoming semester can be submitted at any time. The equipment will be released approximately two weeks before the semester begins.

Do I have to return the iPad? Yes. iPads are loaned for an academic semester. Fall semester loans will be returned in December on the last day of classes. Spring semester loans will be returned in May on the last day of classes. ITS will send a reminder before your iPad is due to be returned.

Will the college provide apps for the loaner iPad Pro? Yes, some basic apps will be available for free download, either because they are free in general or because Smith has purchased a license for the iPads in the loan pool. Some apps are also available to you at lower cost due to an educational rate arranged by the college. You will be responsible for the cost of any other apps you wish to add to the iPad.
