Share Panopto Videos and Add the Panopto Block to Your Moodle Course
Panopto is a video streaming service that lets you securely share recorded class sessions or pre recorded lectures with your students. There are two options for sharing Panopto videos in Moodle:
Add Individual Panopto Video Links as a Resource - Recommended for sharing links to a single recording, such as a pre recorded lecture, or an individual class meeting.
Add the Panopto Block to Automatically Share Recordings with Your Course - Recommended if you plan to share regularly recurring recordings, such as if you record your class meetings with Zoom.
Add Individual Panopto Video Links as a Resource
In Panopto, verify that your recording is available. If you recorded a meeting using Zoom, the recording will automatically be saved in Panopto in My Folder > Meeting Recordings. Alternatively, you can upload a video file directly to Panopto.
From the main page of your Moodle course, select Turn editing on. Editing icons will appear.
Find the section of the page where you want to add the link to your video then, select + Add an activity or resource. The Add an activity or resource pop-up window will open.
Select Panopto. The Adding a new External tool page will open.
Choose Select content. The Select content window will open.
From this window, you can select existing content or upload a new file. Search or use the drop-down menu to find your recording (By default, Zoom recordings are saved in My Folder > Meeting Recordings). Once you have chosen or uploaded the content, select Insert. The title of your video will be added to the Activity name field.
Note: when selecting a video, you can search all your previous classes linked to Panopto and access previously created videos on your account.Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save to return to course. The Panopto link will be added to your course.
