As of 5/27/25, all information about Smith technology resources and support can be found at our new website: its.smith.edu.
The site is a comprehensive collection of technology resources and services at Smith for community members.
It’s our goal to ensure each member of the Smith community—students, faculty, and staff—has the access and support necessary to have a successful digital experience at Smith. From obtaining your OneCard to troubleshooting software issues, we hope you can find the information you need on the new site.
Why do we need a new site?
The new website was created in an effort to consolidate all technology information in one website and make sure it is up to date and accurate. We hope the site allows community members to discover IT services offered at Smith, find answers to questions easily, and access helpful instructions.
What will the new site include?
The site is a comprehensive collection of technology resources and information about IT services available to Smith community members. You’ll find an A to Z listing of technology resources and services as well as curated pages by area of interest, e.g., learning, teaching, and working. In addition, you can easily search the entire site and receive a list of relevant results. The site is also home to a new status page and a one-stop landing page for requesting IT support.
What is happening to smith.edu/its, TARA, and the Digital Support Site?
All of these sites will be phased out since the single new site will cover all topics that are still relevant.
When the site goes live, users visiting old TARA and /its pages will be automatically redirected to either a similar page on the new site or the new homepage. After the site is live, we will work with our partners–including some of you– to update links to our old site pages to pages on the new site.
Is anything happening to the Smith Portal at portal.smith.edu?
No, not at this time. The Portal page will remain as is. For quick reference, the new site will include a convenient Quick Links page that lists and links to some of the most frequently visited technology-related sites at Smith, without single sign-on.
What if I have bookmarks or use links to pages on those sites?
Many of the most visited pages on smith.edu/its and TARA will automatically redirect to corresponding pages on the new website. Digital Support Site pages will be updated with links to the new website. Once the new site is live, you’ll want to bookmark your favorite pages.
Will there be a chance to provide feedback or suggestions for the site?
Yes! We will be hosting in-person feedback sessions for the new site on May 20 and 21. Look for details in eDigest. Additionally, we’ll have more opportunities for community members to provide input this summer. Once the site is live at the end of May, you can reach out to ithelp@smith.edu at any time with comments or suggestions.
What if I have questions or something isn’t working correctly?
Please email ithelp@smith.edu with any questions.
