Connect Perusall to Your Moodle Course
Overview
Perusall is a social learning platform to share course readings so students can add notes using collaborative annotation tools. Through creating a link to Perusall on your Moodle page, students can access your Perusall Library and assignments directly without you needing to enroll them, or having them log into another service.
Connect to Perusall
Go to your Moodle page and select Turn editing on, then select +Add an activity or resource.
From the Add an activity or resource pop-up menu, choose External Tool. The Add a new external tool screen will open.
In the Activity name field, enter “Course Readings” or another descriptive title.
In the Preconfigured tool dropdown menu, select Perusall 1.3, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save and display.
This process will create a new course in Perusall linked to your Moodle course. A dialog will display describing Perusall assignments and libraries. To continue, select Build my Perusall Course. A new tab will open taking you to your Perusall Course Home page.
Follow the initial setup instructions on this page for your Perusall course and complete any required settings. Under Analytics, choose whether you want participation on Perusall to be graded and select one of the grading options.
Note: If you don’t want Perusall to generate grades but still want to track student engagement, select Disable grading, but provide engagement analytics.
When finished, scroll to the bottom and select Save changes.Return to Moodle, and a new resource will be added to your course that links to the Course Home page in Perusall.
