Add A Mobile Smartphone (Duo)

Text Instructions

  1. Open a new browser window and go to the Smith Portal or Workday. Log in with your Smith username and password.

  2. When you get the Duo prompt, select Add a new device. Note: if Duo was set to “remember me for 30 days” and skips the Duo page, you can make it appear by using a different browser, a private window, or an incognito window in Chrome.

  3. Duo will ask you to identify what type of device you are planning to use. Select the appropriate option from the list, and then select Continue.

  4. Enter your phone number and check the box to verify it’s correct. Select Continue.

  5. Select the type of phone you’re enrolling in Duo, then select Continue.

  6. The next screen will prompt you to install Duo Mobile if you have not done so already. Once the app is on your phone, select I have Duo Mobile installed to continue.

  7. The next screen will display a QR code. Open the Duo app on your smartphone and select Add account/Get started. You can also select the + icon in the top right. Accept the prompt on your phone if Duo asks permission to use the camera. Use your smartphone to scan the QR code on the computer screen.

  8. Once you have scanned the barcode, the QR code on your computer screen will fade and a green check mark will appear. This means your Duo account has been set up and you have successfully enrolled your smartphone.

  9. Select Continue to finish logging in to the Smith Portal or Workday.
