Fairy Trails

Fairy trails of light across the bay Bid me walk the waves to better times. Before the dawn the crisp night sky And distant twinkling lamps signal peace, Cool still air in silence waiting. No sound disturbs the night Till sky from midnight blue To red above the banks of clouds does turn, And gulls, awakened, rise with angry cawing, Telling those not yet aloft to come, to fly. Colors turn from red to pink To brilliant blue and white. The sun surmounts the clouds, Too bright to hold my gaze. The day begun, my sight returns. The fairy trails are gone, but from the sun A glory road of light across the bay Bids me walk the waves to better times.
