Imperialism project
What is the best way for an imperialized people to respond?
Introduction
In your imperialism project, you will create a product in which you make an argument that answers the question above, which is one of our unit questions. You will use evidence from India AND from your independent research on several of the eight following countries (link to summaries of the country's response to imperialism here):
- Vietnam, The Philippines, Algeria, Egypt, Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, and Ghana
Requirements
Your project must include the following
- An introduction, including
- Context about imperialism and the three different ways imperialized people can respond to imperialism
- Evidence (evidence can be a fact or string of facts; it does not have to be a quote)
- One piece of evidence for each of the three responses (acceptance, violent resistance, non-violent resistance)
- At least one piece of evidence from India and evidence from the countries you researched
- YOU MAY NOT USE INFORMATION FROM THE COUNTRY SUMMARIES (linked above) AS EVIDENCE.
- A citation for each piece of evidence
- Examples: (doc 6), (textbook 405), (World Book Encyclopedia), (Encyclopedia Britannica)
- Evidence can come from the Hillsdale library's website, our class resources, or the textbook (NOT from random Googling)

- Check here to figure out where you can go to research your chosen country (library website resources and textbook)

- A conclusion that explains what you believe the most appropriate response to imperialism is
- Consider doing this on a publicly viewable Google doc that is linked to your presentation
