TRC Cases and Scaffolds

Friday (5.1) Directions

This is your last day of classtime before your rough draft is due next Friday.

  1. Finish numbers 7-10 from Block.
  2. With your group, identify the key points for full disclosure, political motivation, and proportionality that your side will be arguing.
    1. If you are pro-amnesty, remember - you MUST argue all three points.
    2. If you are arguing con-amnesty, you may choose to only argue two points.
  3. Type your rough draft on your scaffold.
    1. PRO TIP: Check how long you are supposed to be presenting - it is on the role description. Know that it takes about one minute to say one double spaced page.
  4. Transfer your rough draft to the rough draft doc by Friday.

Block (4.29 and 4.30) Directions

  1. Log into Drive.
    1. CLOSING ATTORNEY ONLY: create a document in your side's shared folder with the following naming convention: pro/con case name group member 1 group member 2 group member 3. Example file name: Pro Biehl Janel AR Ryan WW Jorge R. Share this file with ls.hillsdale@gmail.com. Give me editing privileges on this document.
      1. This is the document you will type your rough draft on eventually.
  2. Go to this page on my website.
  3. Check to see your role in the trial here (opening, evidence, closing attorney).
  4. Go to 30 degrees.
  5. Hear about roles in the TRC from me.
  6. Read your role description. Make a copy if you need to to place in your drive. Clarify any questions that you have about your role or how the roles of a team fit together.
  7. Complete the reading and annotating of your case.
  8. Classify your evidence around the three criteria (full disclosure, proportionality, and political motivation) into pro and con evidence.
  9. Show number 8 to LS before moving on.
  10. Make a copy of the scaffold for your role. Place it in your shared group folder. With your group, work through completing this scaffold for your rough draft of the TRC.
