Crowd-Sourced Information and Question Creation

Today, you're going to come up with an inquiry question that you will spend two weeks researching. After your research is over, you will present your findings to the class and answer questions from your peers as well as Lawson and LS.

Here are the links to the pages that contain your research from Block last week:

Directions

  1. Skim the documents above. Yes, different periods came up with very different amounts of information - and very different information in some cases. Read over these notes and add questions to the 'Want to Know' section of your Russian Revolution chart from Block last week.
  2. Reread your questions in the 'Want to Know' section. Are there any you should add? Add them!
  3. Think about your interests outside of school. Could any of those areas relate to the Russian Revolution? Add those questions! Unsure if your interests connect? Talk to Lawson or LS - we're happy to help find a connection.
  4. Go through your complete question list and star the ones you are most interested in spending two weeks finding an answer to.
  5. From your starred questions, think about the following:
      1. Are there multiple possible answers to your question? If the answer is no, choose a different question.
      2. Would you be excited to spend two weeks researching this question? If the answer is no, could you modify the question to make it more interesting?
    1. Find Lawson or LS. Clear your question with them.
    2. Make any necessary changes that came out of your conversation in #6. Get your question approved.
    3. With your approved question, write out further questions and/or topics that will require further research to answer your question well. You must have at least three further questions and/or topics.
    4. Get your question and subquestions officially cleared by Lawson or LS. Be sure to record your question on the Google form they direct you to.
    5. Go to the 'Starting Your Research' subpage of the Russian Revolution unit for your next steps (linked here).
