When we discussed the potential of coming up with incentives for shop owners to rent space in the warehouse, tracking their packages was a main focus. We would ideally like to work with Oreste Venier who designs methods of tracking people. They are devices, design to look like fashionable necklaces that tourists can wear around the city. The idea is that if the individual wearing the device will be given incentives like discounts on tax or services if they obey rules. These rules can range from visiting areas at certain times of the day or staying on a directed route. These devices would be free and provide a method for traffic control within the city. The batteries last for about a year without needing to be recharged, and the plan is to test out the idea at the Venice Film Festival in September. The platform is called “Wearable” however, the device can also be used to track goods and boats as well as people, and this is what we would like to use it for. The idea would be to use the devices with the warehouse in order to track packages as they are distributed throughout the city. If the drivers are using the fastest route possible, and obeying traffic laws, they will be rewarded with a discount on their rent or something similar in value. Generally speaking, the goal of using the devices would be to get shop owners to use the warehouse, and get rewards and discounts if they used it properly. In the wrong run, it would be ideal to get a program setup where if they traveled within certain distance ranges, they would get different incentives.
