Ahenny Village

Ahenny Village was built to house the workers in the Slatequarries at the peak of the Slate production and has two streets and Moore Street. It is believed the village style unique in Ireland was copied from a coal mining village in Wales.

Situated at the foot of Carriagadoon on the Western side of the Lingaun River it is equally famous as a site of two of the High Crosses in the Western Ossory Group in Kilclispeen grayeyard at the top of the village.
