Lingaun Valley

Tullahought village sits on the Eastern slopes of the Lingaun valley over looking the Lingaun River that marks the county boundary between Kilkenny and Tipperary and the Provincial Boundary between Munster and Leinster. Stretching westward to Slievenamon the area in between is rich in historical and industrial sites.

In the Center the Lingaun river runs throught the heart of the Slatequarries where slates were mined for over eight hundred years and around which the High Crosses of Western Ossory in Kilkieran, Kilclispeen (Ahenny) are sited. On either bank is the morning and evenig allinged burial chambers at the Coshel in Knockroe, the standing stones in Kilmacoliver and another burial tomb at the top of Carraigadoun.
