It appears to me and my assistant Emily Ash that we should go about adding CONFLICTS two different ways:
Option 1: For consistent, recurring conflicts, it is best to use
UNAVAILABILITY
Here you can create UNAVAILABILITY SETS. Here's an example if, for the foreseeable future, Emily expects to NOT be available at the PAC until 4:00 PM on weekdays:
As you can see, she can name the UNAVAILABILITY SET (and create more Unavailability Sets if need be at the bottom right). She also set UNTIL: INDEFINITELY, which should mean she doesn't need to add that conflict ever again. If it changes, she can always edit it or completely delete it.
But what if one has additional conflicts on top of these Unavailability Sets? Well, you could add multiple Unavailability Sets week by week by week. Or, what appears to be the better option for us, is to simply REQUEST TIME OFF on the schedule calendar itself.
Option 2: For inconsistent, unique conflicts, it is best to use
TIME OFF
On the schedule calendar, click on the day you have an ADDITIONAL CONFLICT even if there's already a recurring UNAVAILABILITY SET in place.
(This stuff may look a little different for you guys.) Be sure to select TIME OFF and set the parameters of the request. Please add a COMMENT ONLY if your conflict is attending a PAC event (and thus, not guaranteed). Then click ADD TO SCHEDULE .
TIME OFF requests and UNAVAILABILITY overlap shouldn't be an issue.
