ONE LIKE THE SON OF MAN - Jews for Judaism
Jesus, Adopted by God as His Only Son
[PDF] Jesus, ‘Son of God’ and ‘Son of David’: The ‘Adoption’ of Jesus into the Davidic Line
“Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was A MAN accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which GOD DID among you THROUGH him, as you yourselves know (Acts 2:22).
This MAN was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross (Acts 2:23).
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the MAN he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:31).
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the MAN the Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5).
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man (Adam) how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one MAN, Jesus the Christ, overflow to the many! (Romans 5:15)
The Greek word for “man” in these verses is anthropos.
The Greek word anthropos means “a human being, whether male or female, generically, to include all human individuals, to distinguish man from beings of a different race or order.”
Anthropos is used to describe Adam, the first man. In the same verse (Romans 5:15) it is used to describe Jesus Christ. If words mean anything, one must believe that Jesus Christ was a flesh and blood human being just like Adam.
On the other hand, Scripture says “God is not a man.”
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man … (Numbers 23:19).
God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal … (Numbers 23:19 - NRSV).
For I am God, and not man— the Holy One among you (Hosea 11:9).
Jesus is a man. He is the only man who is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Mediator, our Lord, our constant Companion, our Best Friend, our Big Brother, the Light of our lives, our Peace, our Joy, and our Mentor in the art of faith.
He is the Lover of our souls, and that is why we love him and confess him as Lord (Rom. 10:9).
THE MAN, YAHSHUA
Revised 3/12/12
Yahshua himself proclaimed to be a man: But now you seek to kill me, A MAN that has told you the truth, which I have heard of Yahweh: this did not Abraham (John 8:40). Yahshua is called a man many times in the "New Testament": For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, do this, and he does [it]. When Yahshua heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (Luke 7:8-9). John 8:40 “…a man who has told you the truth…”
Acts 2:22 “Yahshua the Nazarene, a man attested to you by Yahweh with miracles and wonders and signs which YAHWEH PERFORMED THROUGH HIM in your midst, just as you yourselves know.” Acts 17:31 “HE [Yahweh] WILL JUDGE the world in righteousness THROUGH A MAN WHOM HE [Yahweh] APPOINTED.” 1. 1 Timothy 2:5 “…the man Messiah Yahshua.”
Yahweh is not a man, but Yahshua, may the blessing and mercy of Yahweh be upon him, was a man, therefore, Yahshua was not Yahweh. The Bible Says that Yahweh Is Not a son of man Numbers 23:19 “Yahweh is not a man...nor a son of man…”
The Bible often calls Yahshua “a son of man” or “the son of man.” Matthew 12:40 “…so will the son of man be…” Matthew 16:27 “For the son of man is going to come…” Matthew 16:28 “…until they see the son of man coming in his kingdom.” Mark 2:10 “But so that you may know that the son of man has authority…” John 5:27 “…because he is the son of man.” In the Hebrew Scriptures, the “son of man” is also used many times speaking of people (Job 25:6; Psalm 80:17; 144:3; Ezekiel 2:1; 2:3; 2:6; 2:8; 3:1; 3:3; 3:4; 3:10; 3:17; 3:25). Since Yahweh would not contradict Himself by first saying He is not the son of a man, then becoming a human being who was called “the son of man”, he would not have done so.
Remember Yahweh is not the author of confusion. Also, human beings, including Yahshua, are called “son of man” specifically to distinguish them from FATHER Yahweh, who is not a “son of man” according to Scripture.
The Scripture Says That Yahshua Denied He Is Yahweh ("God")
Luke 18:19 Yahshua spoke to a man who had called him “righteous,” asking him, “Why do you call me righteous? No one is righteous except Yahweh alone.” Matthew 19:17 And he said to him, “Why are you asking me about what is right? There is only One Who is right; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.” Yahshua did not teach people that he was Yahweh ("God"). If Yahshua had been telling people that he was Yahweh ("God"), he would have complimented the man. Instead, Yahshua rebuked him, denying he was The Righteous One, that is, Yahshua denied he was his and our FATHER Yahweh ("God").
The Scripture Says That Yahweh Is Greater Than Yahshua John 14:28 “My Father is greater than I.” John 10:29 “My Father is greater than all.” Yahshua cannot be his and our FATHER Yahweh if Yahweh is greater than him. The Christian belief that the FATHER and His SON Yahshua are equal is in direct contrast to the clear words from Yahshua.
Yahshua Never Instructed His Disciples to Worship Him as FATHER Yahweh or the "Holy Ghost", but Yahweh and Yahweh ONLY as Our Heavenly FATHER and Creator Luke 11:2 “When you pray, say OUR Father which is IN HEAVEN.” Note that Yahshua was ON EARTH (or IN THE WORLD) when he said this. Yahchanan 16:23 “In that time period, you shall ask me nothing. Whatsoever you ask of the Father in my name.” John 4:23 “The hour comes and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeks such to worship Him.” If Yahshua was his and our FATHER Yahweh, he would have sought worship for himself as our Heavenly FATHER and Creator. Since he didn’t, instead he sought worship for Yahweh in the heavens, therefore, he was not Yahweh.
The Scripture Says that Yahshua Recognized, Prayed, & Worshiped the Only True Yahweh Yahshua communicated ("prayed") to Yahweh with the words: John 17:3 “…that they might know You, the only true Yahweh, and Yahshua Messiah whom You have sent.” Yahshua prayed to his and our Father Yahweh all night: Luke 6:12 … he continued all night in prayer to Yahweh.” …because: Matthew 20:28: Just as the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve. How did Yahshua communicate ("pray") to Yahweh? Matthew 26:39 ‘…he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father…” Even Paul said: Hebrews 5:7 “During the time of Yahshua's life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One Who could redeem him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.” Who was Yahshua communicating ("praying") to when he fell on his face with loud cries and petitions? Was it himself? Was Yahshua crying in tears to himself pleading to be redeemed from death? No man, sane or insane, prays to himself! Surely the answer must be a resounding ‘No.’ Yahshua was praying to “the only true God Yahweh.” Yahshua was the servant of the One Who sent him. Can there be a clearer proof that Yahshua is or was not Yahweh?
The Scripture says that the disciples did not believe Yahshua was Yahweh. The Acts of the Apostles Scripturally detail the activity of the disciples over a period of thirty years after Yahshua, may Yahweh praise him, was raised to heaven. Throughout this period, they never referred to Yahshua as "God". For instance Peter stood up with the eleven disciples and addressed a crowd saying: Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to this: Yahshua of Nazareth was a man accredited by Yahweh to you by miracles, wonders and signs, WHICH YAHWEH DID among you THROUGH (BY WAY OF) him, as you yourselves know.” For Peter, Yahshua was a servant of Yahweh (confirmed in Matthew 12:18): Acts 3:13 “The Almighty One of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Almighty One of our fathers, has esteemed his servant Yahshua.” Acts 3:26 “Yahweh raised up his servant...” When faced by opposition from the authorities, Peter said: Acts 5:29-30 “We must obey Yahweh rather than men! The Almighty One of our fathers raised Yahshua...” The disciples prayed to Yahweh just as they were commanded by Yahshua in Luke 11:2, and considered Yahshua to be Yahweh’s servant, Acts 4:24 “...they raised their voices together in prayer to Yahweh. ‘Sovereign Master,’ they said, ‘you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.’” Acts 4:27 “...Your set apart servant Yahshua, whom you anointed.” Acts 4:30 “…of Your set apart servant Yahshua.”.
The Scripture says that Yahshua was Yahweh’s servant, chosen one, and beloved. Matthew 12:18 “Behold, My servant, whom I have chosen, in whom My soul is well pleased.” Since Yahshua is Yahweh’s servant, Yahshua can not be Yahweh.
The Scripture says that Yahshua could not Do Anything by Himself. John 5:19 “The son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees his Father doing.” John 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing.” Yahshua did not consider himself equal with his and our Father Yahweh, rather he denied doing anything by himself.
The Scripture says that YAHWEH PERFORMED miracles THROUGH Yahshua and that Yahshua was limited in what he could do. Matthew 9:8 “But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and esteemed Yahweh, Who had given such authority to men.” Acts 2:22 “a man attested to you by Yahweh with miracles and wonders and signs WHICH YAHWEH PERFORMED THROUGH him in your midst.” Acts 10:38 “…he went about doing righteousness and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for Yahweh was with him.” If Yahshua was his and our Father Yahweh, the Scripture would simply say that Yahshua did the miracles himself without making reference to Yahweh. The fact that it was Yahweh supplying the power (authority) for the miracles shows that Yahweh is greater than Yahshua.
Also, Yahshua was limited in performing miracles. One time when Yahshua tried to heal a blind man, the man was not healed after the first attempt, and Yahshua had to try a second time (Mark 8:22-26). Once a woman was healed of her incurable bleeding. The woman came up behind him and touched his cloak, and she was immediately healed. But Yahshua had no idea who touched him: Mark 5:30 “At once Yahshua realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, ‘Who touched my clothes?’” Mark 6:5 “He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.” Quite obviously, someone with such limitations cannot be Father Yahweh. The power of miracles was within Yahshua by way of his and our Father Yahweh.
The Scripture says that at times of weakness heavenly angels strengthened Yahshua; Father Yahweh, however, does not need to be strengthened. Luke 22:43 “An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him [in the garden of Gethsemane].” Mark 1:13 “Then the devil left him; and behold, heavenly messengers came and began to minister to him.” Mark 1:13 “And he was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts, and heavenly messengers were ministering to him.” Men need to be strengthened; Yahweh does not, because Yahweh is All-Powerful (Almighty). If Yahshua had to be strengthened, he most certainly was not Yahweh our Heavenly Father and Creator.
The Scripture says that Yahshua wanted Yahweh’s will to be done, not his own. Luke 22:42: “not my will but Yours be done.” John 5:30 “I do not seek my own will, but the will of Him who sent me.” John 6:38 “For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.” Are some members of the coequal Trinity subservient, and less than equal, to other members? Even though they have different wills (“I do not seek my own will”), do they obey without question the others’ commands (“the will of Him who sent me”)? Yahshua admits to subordinating his own distinct will, yet according to the Trinitarian doctrine they should all have the same will. Should one of the triune partners have to forgo his own will in favor of the will of another member of the Trinity? Should not they all have the exact same will? 13. The Scripture says Yahshua regarded Yahweh’s testimony as separate from his own. Yahshua regarded himself and Yahweh as two, not “one.” John 8:17 and 18: “I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father.” John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in Yahweh; trust also in me.” If Yahshua was Yahweh, He would not have regarded Yahweh’s testimony as separate from his own.
The Scripture says that Yahshua is subordinate to Yahweh 1 Corinthians 11:3 “Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Messiah, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Messiah is Yahweh.” 1 Corinthians 15:28 “When he has done this, then the son himself will be made subject to Him who put everything under him, so that Yahweh may be all in all.” Since Yahshua was subordinate to Yahweh, he was not Yahweh.
The Scripture says that Yahshua grew in wisdom & learning, but Yahweh is All Wise & does not (need to) learn. Yahshua grew in wisdom, but Yahweh is all wise: Psalms 147:5 “Great is Yahweh and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite.” Luke 2:52: “And Yahshua increased in wisdom.” Yahweh does not need to learn, but Yahshua learned. Hebrews. 5:8 “Although he was a son, he learned obedience…”
The Scripture says that Yahshua had limited knowledge, but Yahweh’s knowledge is infinite: Mark 13:32 “No one knows about that time or hour, not even the angels in heaven, NOR THE SON, but ONLY the Father.” Since Yahshua, may the blessing and mercy of Yahweh be upon him, did not know, he was not all-knowing, and therefore, he cannot be Yahweh Whose knowledge is all-encompassing.
The Scripture says that Yahshua was tempted, but Yahweh cannot be tempted: Hebrews 4:15 “tempted in every way—just as we are” James 1:13 “for Yahweh cannot be tempted by evil” Since Yahweh cannot be tempted, but Yahshua was, therefore, Yahshua was and is not Yahweh. 18. The Scripture says that Yahshua's teachings were from Yahweh, NOT Yahshua himself John 7:16 “So Yahshua answered them and said, "My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me.” Yahshua would not have said this if he were Yahweh, because the doctrine would have been his.
The Scripture says that Yahshua died, but Yahweh cannot die The Scripture teaches that Yahshua died. Yahweh cannot die. Romans 1:23 and other verses say that Yahweh is immortal. Immortal means, “not subject to death.” This term applied only to Yahweh in this verse.
The Scripture says that Yahshua lived because of Yahweh. John 6:57 “I live because of the Father.” Yahshua cannot be Yahweh because he depended on Yahweh for his own existence. 21. The Scripture says that Yahshua's powers were given to him: Matthew 28:18 “All power is given unto me.” Yahweh is all-powerful (Almighty), no one gives Yahweh His power (authority), otherwise He would not be Yahweh because He would be weak. Therefore, Yahshua could not be God.
The Scripture says that Yahshua was taught & commanded by Yahweh John 8:28 “As my Father has taught me, I speak these things,” John 12:49 “The Father, who sent me, he gave me a commandment.” John 15:10 “I have kept my Father’s commandments.” No one can teach Yahweh, otherwise Yahweh cannot be All-Knowing and would owe His teacher. Since Yahshua was taught and commanded by Yahweh, Yahshua cannot be Yahweh himself. The teacher and the student, the commander and the commanded are not one and the same being.
The Scripture says that Yahweh made Yahshua Master (“Lord”) Acts 2:36 “Yahweh has made this Yahshua... both Master ("Lord") and Messiah.” The word “Lord” is used in many ways in the translation of Scripture, and others beside Yahweh and Yahshua are called “Lord” in translation.
For example:
1. property owners (Matt. 20:8)
2. heads of households (Mark 13:35)
3. slave owners (Matthew 10:24)
4. husbands (1 Pet. 3:6)
5. a son called his father Lord in translation (Matt. 21:30)
6. the Roman Emperor was called Lord in translation (Acts 25:26)
7. Roman authorities were called Lord in translation (Matt. 27:63) “Lord” is not the same as “God” in translation. “Lord” (the Greek word is kurios) is a masculine title of respect and nobility used many times in Scripture translation. If Yahshua were Yahweh, then for the Scripture to say he was “made” Master ("Lord") would make no sense.
The Scripture says that Yahshua was lower than the heavenly angels. Hebrews 2:9 “But we do see him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Yahshua.” Yahweh, the Creator of angels, cannot be lower than His own creation, but Yahshua was. Therefore, Yahshua was and is not Yahweh.
The Scripture says that Yahweh called the Father “my Almighty On ("God")” Matthew 27:46 “My Almighty One (or "My strength"), My Almighty One, why have You forsaken me?” John 20:17 “I ascend to my Father and your Father, and my Almighty One and your Almighty One ("God").” Revelation 3:12 “… the temple of my Almighty One… the name of my Almighty One… the city of my Almighty One… comes down out of heaven from my Almighty One.” Yahshua did not think of himself as the Almighty One, instead Yahshua's Almighty One ("God") is the same as ours.
The Scripture says that Yahweh cannot be seen, but Yahshua was John 1:18 “no man has seen Yahweh at any time.”
The Scripture says twice that Yahshua was accused of being "God", but he denied it According to the so-called "New Testament", on only two instances the Jews opposed Yahshua on the basis that he pretended or made himself out to be "God" or equal with Yahweh. Had Yahshua, may the blessing and mercy of Yahweh be upon him, claimed to be "God", he is likely to have been opposed on this basis more frequently. Because in these two instances, when charged, in the one case, with making himself "God", and in the other, with making himself equal with Yahweh, he denied the charges. In reply to the charge of being an equal with Yahweh, he says immediately: John 5:19, 30 “The son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do”; and directly after: “I can of mine own self do nothing.” In answer to the charge of making himself "God", he appeals to the Jews in substance thus: Your own Scriptures call Moses a god, and your magistrates gods; I am surely not inferior to them, yet I did not call myself "God", but only the “son” of Yahweh (John 10:34-36).
This is unlikely to have been Jesus' actual response. Hastings in “The Dictionary of the Bible” says, “Whether Jesus used it of himself is doubtful.” Grolier’s encyclopedia, under the heading “Jesus Christ,” says, “it is uncertain whether the Father/Son language (Mark 18:32; Matt. 11:25-27 par.; John passim) goes back to Jesus himself.” A University of Richmond professor, Dr. Robert Alley, after considerable research into newly found ancient documents concludes that:
“... The (Biblical) passages where Jesus talks about the Son of God are later additions.... what the church said about him. Such a claim of deity for himself would not have been consistent with his entire lifestyle as we can reconstruct. For the first three decades after Jesus’ death Christianity continued as a sect within Judaism. The first three decades of the existence of the church were within the synagogue. That would have been beyond belief if they (the followers) had boldly proclaimed the deity of Jesus.”
Assuming Jesus did say that he was “son” of God. What did it mean? We first need to know the language of his people, the language of the Jews to whom he was speaking.
First, most people think there are no other verses that contradict or give equal divine sonship to other persons in the Old or New Testament. But according to the Bible God had quite a few “sons”: Adam,[1] Jacob is God’s son and firstborn,[2] Solomon[3], Ephraim[4] is God’s firstborn, common people are called the sons of God.[5] All four Gospels record Jesus as saying, “Blessed are the peace-makers; they will be called sons of God.”
The word “son” cannot be accepted literally because in the Bible, God apparently addresses many of his chosen servants as “son” and “sons.” The Hebrews believed God is One and had neither wife nor children in any literal sense. Therefore, it is obvious the expression “son of God” merely meant “Servant of God”; one who, because of faithful service, was close and dear to God as a son is to his father. Christians who came from a Greek or Roman background, later misused this term. In their heritage, “son of God” signified an incarnation of a god or someone born of a physical union between male and female gods. This can be seen in Acts 14: 11-13, where we read that when Paul and Barnabas preached in a city of Turkey, pagans claimed they were gods incarnate. They called Barnabas the Roman god Zeus, and Paul the Roman god Hermes.
Furthermore, the New Testament Greek word translated as “son” are “pias” and “paida” which mean “servant,” or “son in the sense of servant.” These are translated to “son” in reference to Jesus and “servant” in reference to all others in some translations of the Bible. So, consistent with other verses, Jesus was merely saying that he is God’s servant.
Additional Problems with Trinity To a Christian, God had to take human form to understand temptation and human suffering, but the concept is not based on any clear words of Jesus. In contrast, God does not need to be tempted and suffer in order to be able to understand and forgive man’s sins, for He is the all knowing Creator of man. This is expressed in the verse:
Exodus 3:7 “And the Lord said: ‘I have surely seen the affliction of My people that are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their pains.’”
God forgave sin before Jesus’ appearance, and He continues to forgive without any assistance. When a believer sins, he may come before God in sincere repentance to receive forgiveness. Indeed, the offer to humble oneself before God and be saved is made to all humankind.
Isaiah 45:21-22, cf. Jonah 3:5-10 “And there is no God else beside Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside Me. Look to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else.”
Biblically, people can receive forgiveness of sins through sincere repentance sought directly from God. This is true at all times and in all places. There has never been a need for the so-called intercessionary role Jesus plays in attaining atonement. The facts speak for themselves. There is no truth to the Christian belief that Jesus died for our sins and salvation is only through Jesus. What about the salvation of people before Jesus? Jesus’ death brings neither atonement from sin, nor is it in any way a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Christians claim that in the birth of Jesus, there occurred the miracle of the incarnation of God in the form of a human being. To say that God became truly a human being invites a number of questions. Let us ask the following about the man-God Jesus. What happened to his foreskin after his circumcision (Luke 2:21)? Did it ascend to heaven, or did it decompose as with any human piece of flesh? During his lifetime what happened to his hair, nails, and blood shed from wounds? Did the cells of his body die as in ordinary human beings? If his body did not function in a truly human way, he could not be truly human as well as truly God. Yet, if his body functioned exactly in a human way, this would nullify any claim to divinity. It would be impossible for any part of God, even if incarnate, to decompose in any way and still be considered God. The everlasting, one God, in whole or in part, does not die, disintegrate, or decompose:
Malachi 3:6 “For I the Lord do not change.”
Did Jesus’ flesh dwell in safety after his death? Unless Jesus’ body never underwent “decay” during his lifetime he could not be God, but if it did not undergo “decay” then he was not truly human.

Simple Scriptural Proof That Yahshua Was Human
Is or was Yahshua a man or “God”? Was he pre-incarnate? Did he pre-exist? What does Scripture teach?
Yahweh Is Eternal
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are Yahweh (Psalms 90:2).
Man Has A Beginning
Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble (Iyyob 14:1).
Man Lives His Life
He comes forth like a flower and fades away; He flees like a shadow and does not continue (Iyyob 14:2).
Man Dies
So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep (Iyyob 14:12).
Man Is Buried, I.E. Sleeps In The Grave (Sheol or Hades)
Oh, that You would hide me in the grave, That You would conceal me until Your wrath is past, That You would appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Iyyob 14:3)
Man Will Be Resurrected
If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes (Iyyob 14:14).
Yahshua [“Jesus”] Had A Beginning
Then the malak said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mariam, for you have found favor with Yahweh. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Yahshua (Lukyah 1:30-31).
Yahshua Lived His Life
And Yahshua increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with Yahweh and men (Lukyah 5:22).
Yahshua Died
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, … 1 Corinthians 15:1-3
Yahshua Was Buried (1 Corinthians 15:4a)
Yahshua Was Resurrected
… and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he was seen by Kepha, then by the twelve. After that he was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep (1 Corinthians 15:4b-6).
A simple and honest reading of Scripture makes it clear that Yahshua was not pre-incarnate or pre-existing. He had a beginning just like us and was, according to Scripture, a man – not “God” and not pre-existent.
One more point: Shaul, writing to the Hebrews makes it clear that “…he [Yahshua] had to be made like his brothers ([http://www.carelinks.net/doc/oneinchrist-en]1[/URL]) in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to Yahweh, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17. Yahshua was a man just like us (Hebrews 2:17).

Did Jesus Have the Same Physical Body After His Resurrection? By Eric Lyons, M. Min.
A gentleman once contacted our offices at Apologetics Press, questioning whether Jesus had the same body after His resurrection as He did before being raised from the grave. According to this man, Jesus “appeared to people he knew but nobody recognized him…. It’s as though He had a different body”—and possibly one that was not physical. At the outset, it is incorrect to assert that “nobody recognized Him,” because Matthew 28:9,17 clearly implies that at least some of Jesus’ disciples knew Who He was and worshipped Him. Moreover, that Jesus had essentially the same physical body after His resurrection that He had when He died on the cross, is evident from at least three different passages. In Luke 24:39 Jesus stated: “Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” Jesus expected His disciples to observe His physical body. Later in the same chapter, we read that Jesus ate a meal with His disciples (24:42-43; cf. Acts 10:41). And then in John 20:25-29, which is the most often-used passage in defense of Christ’s having His same physical body, Thomas was asked to touch Jesus’ nail-scared hands and reach into His side that had been pierced with the Roman spear. But what about those occasions when some of His disciples did not recognize Him? Do such verses as Luke 24:31,37 and John 20:10-16 represent a contradictory element in the resurrection story? First, just because the text says that the disciples thought they had seen a spirit when they saw Jesus (Luke 24:37), does not indicate that He looked different. Since they knew He had been killed, seeing His resurrected body caused them to think that He was in spirit form rather than physical. A similar thing happened to Peter when some thought his unexpected presence must be an indication that “it is his angel” (Acts 12:15). Second, the reason the two disciples who were traveling on the road to Emmaus failed to recognize Jesus initially was not because Jesus had a different body, but because God had miraculously prevented them from recognizing Him. Luke 24:16 indicates that at the beginning of their conversation with Jesus “their eyes were restrained,” but then just before Jesus vanished from their sight, “their eyes were opened and they knew Him” (24:31). Thus, the disciples’ recognition ability failed, not because Jesus possessed a different body, but because their eyes were miraculously restrained.
A final person often mentioned as not having recognized the Savior (allegedly because Jesus had a different body) is Mary Magdalene. John 20:11-18 certainly testifies of her initial inability to identify Jesus. The question is: Was Mary’s failure to recognize Jesus, her fault or the result of Jesus having a different body? As with the above cases, there is no indication in John 20:11-18 that Jesus had anything other than His risen crucified body (cf. 20:25-29). There are at least four possibilities, however, as to why Mary failed to recognize Jesus right at first.
The sun may not have risen all the way yet, thus making it difficult to see (cf. 20:1).
Mary was engaged in deep weeping that likely obscured her vision (20:11,13). In fact, the first words Jesus said to Mary were, “Woman, why are you weeping?” (vs. 15).
Considering Jesus’ clothes were taken from Him when He was crucified (John 19:23-24), and that the linen cloths which were used in His burial were lying in the tomb (John 20:6-7), Jesus likely was wearing clothes that made His exact identity less conspicuous at first glance. Perhaps His post-resurrection attire was like what a gardener or watchman would wear (cf. John 20:15).
It also is possible that Mary’s eyes were restrained miraculously, as were the disciples with whom Jesus conversed on the road to Emmaus.
Once all the Scriptures are taken in to account, one can see clearly that Jesus physically rose from the grave in essentially the same body that was crucified on the cross. The fact that some of Jesus’ disciples did not immediately recognize Him, in no way contradicts His physical resurrection. http://www.apologeticspress.org/apcontent.aspx?category=6&article=673
