This is a total break down for those who want to understand Daniels 70th week. It is broken down at the end of the page.

It’s simply a biblical term for the last seven years of the age of law keeping not the end of the world – when all the end-time prophecies were to be fulfilled. It comes from the book of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27).

Background

In 605 B.C., the Israelite people were taken captive by the Babylonians, who, in turn, were conquered by the Medo-Persians. One day, the Israelite prophet Daniel, who was among the captives, was reading a prophecy given by the prophet Jeremiah and realized that his people’s captivity was about to end (Jeremiah 25:11-12). So, Daniel prayed to God about the future of Israel (Daniel 9:1-19). In response to his prayer, God sent the angel Gabriel to him with a message (9:20-23).

Gabriel told Daniel that “70 weeks” had been decreed for the Israelite people until his Kingdom was established as God’s final kingdom (verse 24). Gabriel then broke down the 70 weeks into time increments. He said that “69 weeks” would pass from the time the Israelite people were released from captivity and rebuilt Jerusalem until their Messiah came (verse 25). After 69 weeks, the Messiah would be “cut off” and Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed and wars and desolations would take place (verse 26).

Then the “prince who was to come” (Jesus) would bring a covenant (new) with “many,” including Israel, for “one week” (the 70th week). But halfway through the week he would die and end Jewish sacrifices (by becoming the last sacrifice God accepted). He would cause great desolation until God destroyed the people who killed him (verse 27).

Interpretation

Bible scholars interpret the “70 weeks” as symbolic language for 490 years, with each week symbolizing a period of seven years. So, according to the prophecy Daniel was given, 483 years (69 weeks) would pass from the time the Jewish people were released from captivity and rebuilt Jerusalem until the Messiah came. And that’s exactly what happened. I want to make this easy for people who do not understand Daniels 70th week and I have every aspect of Daniels 70th week broke down below.

You can read all the scriptures that are highlighted at the end of this page. Proving that each of these prophecies are not future, but were fulfilled in the generation that Jesus lived in.

24 Seventy weeks ( 70 x7=490 yrs) are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, John 19:28-30 and to make an end of sins Hebrews 9:26,and to make reconciliation for iniquity Romans 5:10, and to bring in everlasting righteousness Romans 3:26, and to seal up the vision and prophecy Daniel 12:9,and to anoint the most Holy Acts 10:37-38.

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah (JESUS) the Prince (JESUS) shall be seven weeks (7x7yrs=49yrs), and threescore and two weeks (62 weeks or 62 x 7= 434 yrs): the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troubles times.

26 And after (after the 69th week, which puts us in the 70th week) threescore and two weeks (62 weeks/ 434yrs + 49 yrs building the temple 483 yrs which is when he came) shall Messiah (JESUS) be cut off (killed crucified), but not for himself (he died for the people): and the people (Roman Army) of the prince (JESUS) that shall come shall destroy the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary (Temple); and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolation’s are determined. (Jerusalem destroyed in 70A.D.)

27 And he(JESUS) shall confirm the covenant(New Covenant message) with many for one week (Daniels 70th week): and in the midst(middle) of the week (Daniels 70th Week 3 ½ years in) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease(GOD stopped accepting sacrifices after that), and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. ( He ended it when he came after the great tribulation at the end of 66 1/2- 70 A.D.)

Jacob worked a week (7 years) for Rachel, but the Father lied and he worked another week(7 years) total 14 years. The point is that a week in the Bible is 7 years.

49 years was how long it took to rebuild the Jewish Temple after the Babylonians destroyed it.

7 x 7 yrs = 49yrs (7 weeks) + 434yrs (62 weeks) = 483yrs (69 weeks) + 7 yr (one week Daniels last 7 years ) = 490 years Jesus came exactly (4 B.C.) 483yrs from Daniels prophecy when he started his ministry at the age of 30. It lasted 3 ½ years and ended in 33 1/2 A.D when he was crucified in the mist of Daniels 70th week. Jesus said this generation shall not pass away until all things be fulfilled in Matthew 24. Jesus gave them one generation 40 yrs from when he started his ministry in 30 A,D until 70 A.D. Until he came. Not like the comings you normally hear about, but a coming in judgment against Jerusalem and the people who crucified him. The great tribulation took place in 66 ½ A.D. And ended in 70 A.D.(This time period was the last 3 ½ years of Daniels 7 year prophecy.)

Verse 24

1. JERUSALEM WAS TO BE RESTORED. We have already seen the scriptures that explain this.

2. THE STREET AND WALL WERE TO BE REBUILT IN TROUBLOUS TIMES. We have seen in the book of Ezra some of the troubles that confronted the people in those years of rebuilding.

3. "TO FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION",

John 19:28-30- After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
