The first century & the 1290 and 1335 days of Daniel fulfilled in 70 A.D
By. Thracia Gharst
The first 3 ½ years of Daniels 70th week was fulfilled by Jesus Christ when he preached the new covenant plan of salvation from the age of 30- 33. When he was cut off in the mist of his week in 33 1/2 A.D. and the 2nd half was fulfilled in 66 ½- 70 A.D during the great tribulation. I hope to prove that the 1290 days (Daniel 12) runs from the abomination to finishing of the wall of pointed sticks ending escape
The 1335 days (Daniel 12) runs from the abomination of Cestius to the parading of escapees from Jerusalem
The 1365 days (Numbers 3) runs from the start of the attack by Cestius to the burning of the temple. Which took place in the Jewish Roman war which lasted exactly 3 ½ years from 66 ½ -70 A/D
I believe that this daily is referring to Messiah Jesus dying in midst of Daniel's 70th week 3 ½ yrs after teaching the new covenant until he died in 33 1/2 A.D & he was the last sacrifice God accepted. Any sacrifice after that was technically an abomination, because Jesus is the only blood that can take away sin, not the blood of bulls and goats.
Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;
And the people of the prince who is to come
Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.
The end of it shall be with a flood,
And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”
Notice there was going to be more than one abomination. They committed many abominations, by continuing to sacrifice, but it was the Romans that sacrificed the last sacrifice of animals in the temple. The barnes notes describes this final sacrifice. Right after this the Christians fled the city.
The two events; the daily taken away, and the abomination set up, are not the same. The first paves the way for the second. The daily is removed so the abomination can be set up.
Daniel 11:31 "His armed forces will rise up to pollute the sanctuary of strength, and will take away the daily. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation.
Barnes' Notes on Matthew 24:15
The abomination of desolation - This is a Hebrew expression, meaning an abominable or hateful destroyer. The Gentiles were all held in abomination by the Jews, Acts 10:28. The abomination of desolation means the Roman army, and is so explained by Luke 21:20. The Roman army is further called the "abomination" on account of the images of the emperor, and the eagles, carried in front of the legions, and regarded by the Romans with divine honors.
Spoken of by Daniel the prophet - Daniel 9:26-27; Daniel 11:31; Daniel 12:11, see the notes at those passages.
Standing in the holy place - Mark says, standing where it ought not," meaning the same thing. All Jerusalem was esteemed "holy," Matthew 4:5. The meaning of this is, when you see the Roman armies standing in the holy city or encamped around the temple, or the Roman ensigns or standards in the temple. Josephus relates that when the city was taken, the Romans brought their idols into the temple, and placed them over the eastern gate, and sacrificed to them there, "Jewish Wars," b. 6 chapter 6, section 1.
Whoso readeth ... - This seems to be a remark made by the evangelist to direct the attention of the reader particularly to the meaning of the prophecy by Daniel.
Luke 21:20"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near. 21"Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city.
The abomination of desolation was Roman soldiers surrounding Jerusalem in 66 A.D
The1260 day/years
The 1260 years are consistently linked to the time period after Christ's death and resurrection when an earthly power would have primacy over God's saints and would seek to destroy them.
Daniel 12:7 It shall be for a time, times and half a time (3 and half= 1260 day/years) when the power of the holy people has been shattered, all these shall be finished.
Daniel 7:25 He (the stout horn) shall persecute the saints of the most high and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time, times and half a time. (1260 day/years)
Rev. 12:6 And the woman (God's true church) fled into the wilderness where she has a place prepared by God, where she was nourished for 1260 days.
Rev. 12:13-14 And the dragon persecuted the woman...she flew into the wilderness...where she is nourished for a time and times, and half a time...
Rev. 13:5-6 (The sea beast) is given authority to continue for 42 months (1260 day/years) and it is granted to him to make war with the saints and overcome them.
1260 days
It shall be for a time, times and a half a time and when the power of the holy people has been shattered, all these things shall be finished. Dan. 12:7
The times time and half a time was the 3 ½ year great tribulation and end of Daniels 70th week, at the end of the Jewish/Roman war.
1290 and 1335 days
From the time the daily is taken away and the abomination set up; 1290 days. Blessed is he who waits and comes to the 1335 days
And since Daniel 12:5-13 is the heavenly explanation of Daniel 10-11, we also find in the vision part the war against God's saints. This war against the saints is described in Daniel 11:33-35
For many days they will fall by the sword and flame, by captivity and blunder...to refine them and purify them until the time of the end, because it is for an appointed time.
And what is the appointed time of this persecution? Daniel 12:7 says it is for a time, times and half a time (1260 years) that the power of the holy people shall be shattered.
The Natural
The Bible says first comes the natural and then the spiritual.
Daniel 7.25
And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
A Time = 1 year
Times = 2 years
Dividing of Times = 1/2 year.
360 X 3 =1080 180 = 1260
1 yr + 2yrs + ½ yr (6mo) = 3 ½ yrs (180 days) then 360 days in a year x 3yr= 1,080 + 180 days = 1,260
The Jewish Roman war was from 66 ½ – 70 A.D & was the great trib 3 ½ years long and was the 2nd half of Daniels 70th week.
30 days in a month x 3 ½ years = 42 mo or 3 ½ years.
This is the natural interpretation of Daniels 1290,1260, & 1335 day/ year prophecy.

Titus arrived in 70Nisan around Nisan14, at the end of the last half of the week of years and Cestius arrived in 66Tishri, at the beginning of the 2nd half of Daniel's 70th week. At the arrival of Cestius those in Judea started flee to the mountains, and those in the midst of Jerusalem started to withdraw as commanded and prophesied by Jesus:
15 Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place, let the reader use discernment,
16 then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains (Matthew 24).
14 However, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation standing where it ought not, let the reader use discernment, then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains (Mark 13).
20 Furthermore, when you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that the desolating of her has drawn near.
21 Then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains, and let those in the midst of her withdraw, and let those in the country places not enter into her (Luke 21).
44 Because days will come upon you, when your enemies will build around you a fortification with pointed stakes, and will encircle you and distress you from every side. And they will dash you and your children within you to the ground. And they will not leave a stone upon a stone in you, because you did not discern the time of your being inspected (Luke 19).
So Jesus himself said that the flight to Judea was a fulfillment of Daniel, basically of Daniel 12. The history of the great tribulation and of Armageddon for the Jews in Jerusalem according to Josephus went like this:
The above is taken from Josephus 'Wars of the Jews' book2 chapter19 and books 5&6. In book 6 chapter2, 'in the meantime' of section 7 is 7 days, and the 'in the meantime' of section 9 is that day.
The Fall of Jerusalem
Cestius' arrival on Tishri22, the sabbath of the festival of Booths, the day of the Solemn assembly, the final day of the festival of the last in gathering is entirely apposite. The perfect day for him to arrive.
Josephus himself remarks with some amazement that Zerubbabel's temple was destroyed/burnt by Titus on 70Ab10 the same day, according to the Jewish calendar that Nebuchadnezzar burnt Solomon's:
12 And in the 5th month [Ab], on the 10th day of the month, that is in the 19th year of king Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan, the chief of the bodyguard, who was standing before the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem.
13 And he proceeded to burn the house of Jehovah and the house of the king and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great house he burned with fire (Jeremiah 52:12,13).
Note even though the Romans burnt what was left of the temple Josephus & Titus accredited the Israelite zealots for it's
destruction. In Wars 4.6.3 what Josephus said the Israelite Cealots did to the temple itself:
“…these Israelit Zealots occasioned the fulfilling of those very prophecies belonging to their country. For there was a certain
ancient oracle of those men, that the city should then be taken and the sanctuary burnt, by right of war, when a sedition
should invade the Jews and their own hands should pollute the Temple of God. Now, while these Zealots did not disbelieve
these predictions, they made themselves the instruments of their accomplishment.”
So Josephus said that the Zealots were the instruments by which the temple was burnt. To confirm this, here’s what Titus said
in his speech to the Zealots soon after the temple burned down:
“When I came near your temple, I again departed from the laws of war, and exhorted you to spare your own sanctuary, and to preserve your holy house to yourselves. I allowed you a quiet exit out of it, and security for your preservation; nay, if you had a mind, I gave you leave to fight in another place. Yet have you still despised every one of my proposals, and have set fire to your holy house with your own hands” (Wars 6.6.2).
So Titus retired into the tower of Antonia, and resolved to storm the temple the next day, early in the morning, with his whole army, and to encamp round about the holy house. But, as for that house, God had for certain long ago doomed it to the fire. And now that fatal day was come, according to the revolution of ages. It was the 10th day of the month Lous (Ab), upon which it was formerly burnt by the king of Babylon (War of the Jews book 6 Chapter 4)
We know why these two burnings of the first and second temples, both occurred on the same day. (the bible says “ First comes the natural and then the spiritual.” The first temple that was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar was the natural and the second temple that was destroyed in 70 A.D was the spiritual.)
Now it is a matter of record that the Great Tribulation of Matthew 24, for the Jewish system, occurred during the period from the exit of Cestius until the arrival of Titus, and the Armageddon for the Jew was the siege of Titus. Josephus' description of the city after Cestius left was:
After this calamity had befallen Cestius, many of the most eminent of the Jews swam away from the city, as from a ship when it was going to sink (Wars of the Jews book2 chapter20).
It is further a matter of record that the anointed Christians obeyed the commandment of Jesus and did indeed start fleeing to the hills of Perea when they saw Cestius arrive. So as for the Jews, they had a 3½ year great tribulation, and as for the anointed Christians they escaped , spending it in the hills.
Cestius took the temple wall on 66Heshvan5, at this time he constituted the disgusting thing that causes desolation standing where it ought not and in 'a holy place'. At this moment in history, both parts of Daniel's criterion were fulfilled, namely the disgusting thing that causes desolation had been placed in the temple (Cestius) and the constant feature had been removed (since non one felt like offering up a sacrifice in front of Cestius). At that time, on that very day, the most astonishing thing happened, which was truly an act of God, Josephus relates with amazement:
It then happened that Cestius was not conscious either how the besieged despaired of success, nor how courageous the people were for him, and he recalled his soldiers from the place, and by despairing of any expectation of taking it, without having received any disgrace, he retired from the city, without any reason in the world (Josephus, Wars of the Jews, book2, chapter 19).
God had melted his heart. This enabled the rest of the Christians to flee to the hills, and so on this day, 66Heshvan5, we have a fulfillment of the conditions for the start of the 1290 days of Daniel 12:11.
The next event that the holy word mentions in the story of the end of Jerusalem, is as mentioned above:
44 Because days will come upon you, when your enemies will build around you a fortification with pointed stakes, and will encircle you and distress you from every side. And they will dash you and your children within you to the ground. And they will not leave a stone upon a stone in you, because you did not discern the time of your being inspected (Luke 19).
This wall was finished at the very end of 70Sivan4, and the first watch in the night of 70Sivan5, was when Titus was able to make his inspection of the completed and fully garrisoned wall. So at this time there was no further escape for the Jews and Armageddon had begun. If you like the means of physical salvation, the antitype of which is the Abrahamic covenant, the means of spiritual salvation, or physical salvation after 2008Nisan14, had ended. Now 70Sivan5 is 1290 days after 66Heshvan5. Or counting inclusively the 1290 days runs from 66Heshvan5 to 70Sivan4, the last day of possible salvation, before the wall was garrisoned and inspected by Titus. This was the first century fulfillment of Daniel 12:11. But there is more yet that we can glean from this prophetic destruction. For the fleeing to the hills in the bible is the start of the great tribulation:
16 Let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains.
17 Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house,
18 and let the man in the field not return to the house to pick up his outer garment.
19 Woe to the pregnant women and those suckling a baby in those days!
20 Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime, nor on the sabbath day,
21 for then there will be great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the world's beginning until now, no nor will occur again (Matthew 24).
This scripture refers to the last tribulation of the Jewish system in the literal meaning of Matthew 24, and also to the last tribulation of this system in the word symbolic meaning. What this means is that the 1290 days of Daniel 12, in their second fulfillment relate to a period at the end of the Lord's day not the start of it. Furthermore, as in the first century fulfillment the days must end at the end of the system.
As regards the 1335 days, well again counting from Cestius' invasion of the temple, on 66Heshvan5, which was the beginning of the flight to the hills, we end up on 70Tammuz19. But this was the day when Titus ordered the siege of the temple to start at the 9th hour of the night (which was in the next Hebrew day), and this day, 70Tammuz19, was the day that the Jews inside Jerusalem saw those who had escaped and had been sent to Gophna for their own safety being paraded round the wall of the city all alive and fine.
This is just amazing, because Gophna is standing for Zoar, in the account of Sodom, and the destruction did not start until then because as God said to Lot:
22 I am not able to do a thing until your arriving there (Genesis 19).
This is occurring not because the words of Josephus were inspired but because the actions of Titus and even of Josephus were inspired, for these two were God's anointed executioner and spokesman to his people at the end of the Jewish system.

1290 days 45 days
1290+45=1335 days. Fine except this should be BLC rather than Hebrew Calendar. Hmm.
66Heshvan5
70Sivan4
70Tammuz19
Cestius enters temple, the disgusting thing in the holy place, and then retreats without a reason in the world.
Titus finishes the 'fortification with pointed stakes' (Luke 19:43) Jerusalem is surrounded, the only escape is now to the Romans (prefigures 2008Nisan14, after which the only escape is to God)
Titus parades those who have fled to the Romans and been saved alive in Gophna around the wall. Then he starts the final assault on the temple.

The Spiritual
1,260 12x10=1,200 12 is God's number for Government 10 is God's number for Divine Government & law 6x10=60 6 is God's number for man. The 1st 3 ½ yrs of Daniels 70th week Jesus preached the kingdom of heaven. The 2nd half Satan & man ruled under the law mixed with Idolatry, which was during the Great tribulation & the last 3 ½ yrs of Daniels 70th week. They got to see the new covenant kingdom of heaven come. A good example of the natural was when Moses and the children of Israel made it to the promise land and because of unbelief, they had to wander 4o years until the unbelieving people died. Then there children could enter the promise land. The same happened in Jesus' time. The Jews didn't believe in Jesus and God gave them one 40 year period (one generation) before they were destroyed in 70 A.D. Then only the believing Jews and Gentiles could enter the spiritual promise land, which was the new covenant.
Twelve - Relates to divine government.
The 12 tribes of Israel (Revelation 7).
The 12 apostles (Matthew 10:2-4).
Revelation 21:12-14
It [the New Jerusalem] had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed—on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (ESV)
Ten - Relates to human governments and law.
The Ten Commandments were the Tablets of the Law (Exodus 20:1-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21).
Ten tribes made up the northern kingdom (1 Kings 11:31-35).
Ruth 4:2
And he [Boaz] took ten men of the elders of the city [as judges] and said, "Sit down here." So they sat down. (ESV)
SIX: Both man and the serpent were created on the sixth day, therefore, the number six represents both man and rebellion. In the Greek alphabet the number six is not represented by an alphabetic letter but is instead represented by a symbol called the "stigma." In Revelation 13:18 the number of the Beast is written not as 666 but is instead is written with the Greek symbols for 600 and 60 and 6
1290 the number 12 relates to divine Government & 10 (human Government) x 9 ( Judgment ) = 1290 at the end of the 1290 years, the old government was destroyed and 9 is the number where mans work ceased (the law) and the final judgment is finalized.
NINE: This number is related to the number six, being the sum of its factors (3x3=9, and 3+3=6). It is significant of the end of man and the sum of all man's works. Nine is therefore the number of finality or judgment.
It was in the ninth year of the prophet Hosea that the king of Assyria destroyed the capital city of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and carried the people away into exile [2 Kings 17:6].
It was in the ninth year of King Zedekiah's reign that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon conquered the Southern Kingdom of Judah, destroying the city of Jerusalem and the Temple [2 Kings 25:1].
It was the ninth hour, Jewish time (3PM) when Jesus gave up His life on the cross for the sins of the world [Matthew 27:46]
1,335 represents 10 x 3 = 1300 and 35 , 10 is the number for government and law, 3 is Gods number of perfection and 3 again being Gods perfect number plus 5 which represents grace.
The bible says in Daniel Blessed is the man who makes it to the 1,335.
THREE: In Scripture the number three represents perfection that which is solid, real, substantial, and something in its completeness. This number represents death burial and resurrection. It indicates something of importance or significance in God's plan of salvation by identifying an important event in Salvation History. This number operates as a "sign-post" in Scripture study for the reader to "pay attention" to the significance of the next event.
In the Old Testament:
It is the first of the 4 perfect numbers which are 3 (divine perfection); 7 (spiritual perfection); 10 (ordinal perfection); and 12 (governmental perfection).
The earth was separated from the waters on the 3rd day [Genesis 1:9-13]
There were three Patriarchs of the children of Israel: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel
After the Great Flood mankind descended from the three sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. [Genesis 10:1-32]
Three "men" announced to Abraham that his barren wife would bear a son [Genesis 18:14].
Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son after a three-day journey to Mt. Moriah [Genesis 22:1-4].
Baby Moses was hidden by his mother for three months [Exodus 2:1] and the adult Moses requests of Pharaoh that he let Moses take his people on a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifice to their God [Exodus 3:18].
There were three divisions of the desert Tabernacle and later the Temple in Jerusalem: the Outer Court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Holies [Exodus 27:9; 26:1-30, 35-37; 31-34; 38:9-20; 21-31; 40:1-33; 1 Kings 6: 1-37].
Of the seven annual Holy Feasts of the Sinai Covenant, three are "pilgrim feasts" in which every man 13 years or older must present himself before God at His Sanctuary and later at the Temple in Jerusalem. This command is repeated three time in scripture [Exodus 23:14-17; 34:18-23; Deuteronomy 16:16]
Jonah spent three days in the belly of the great fish [Jonah 1:17]; Jonah took three days to journey across the city of Nineveh [Jonah 3:3]
In the New Testament:
Jesus' ministry lasted three years, covering three Passovers [John 2:13; 6:4; 11:55-12:1].
Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months [Luke 1:56]
Jesus was missing for three days when He was 12 years old [Luke 2:46]
Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on the Mt. of Transfiguration [Matthew 17]
Jesus arose from the dead on the third day.[Genesis 1:9-13]
Saul was blinded for three days [Acts 9:9]
Saul was baptized, and filled with the holy spirit and given his eyesight on the third day.
The theological virtues are faith, hope and charity [1 Corinthians 13:13]
The heavenly Jerusalem has three gates on each of its four sides [Revelation 21:13]
Christians saw three as The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in one.
FIVE: This is the number of power and Divine grace.
Five kinds of animals were sacrificed under the Old Covenant Law of
sacrifice: goats, sheep, cattle, pigeons and doves [Genesis
15:9; Exodus 29:38; Leviticus 1:1-17; 3:1; 4:3, 14, 23, 28; 5:6-7]
God changed Abram's name to Abraham by adding the letter/number
five to his name [Genesis 17:5]. He changed Sarai's name by adding
the same letter/number with the value of "grace" to form the name
Sarah [Genesis 17:15]. Abraham and Sarah were transformed by
grace to become the parents of a family from which the Messiah
would be born
The Tabernacle was measured in multiples of five [Exodus 25 - 27]
There are five books of the Torah (first 5 books of the Old Testament)
Matthew's Gospel is divided into five "books"
Jesus bled from five wounds on the altar of the Cross: His two
hands, his two feet and His head.
Daniel proclaimed the Fifth Kingdom to be an Everlasting Kingdom
Conclusion
I hope you can see that in Daniels 1,290, 1,260, & the 1,335 day/years
were fulfilled first naturally in 66 – 70 A.D and spiritually when you
look up biblically what the numbers represented in scripture. The 1
290 days (Daniel 12) runs from the abomination to finishing of the
wall of pointed sticks ending escape The 1335 days (Daniel 12) runs
from the abomination of Cestius to the parading of escapees from
Jerusalem The 1365 days (Numbers 3) runs from the start of the
attack by Cestius to the burning of the temple. Also, the first 3 ½
years of Daniels 70th week was fulfilled by Jesus Christ when he
preached the new covenant plan of salvation from the age of 30- 33
and the 2nd half was fulfilled in 66 ½- 70 A.D during the great
tribulation.
