God's divorce from Israel
Yes, in Jeramiah God wrote Israel a bill of divorcement. Jeremiah's prophecies were of the last days. God divorced Israel and destroyed her unbelieving people this took place in the 70 A.D. Jewish Roman war. Honestly. Read Isaiah 1:2 2Listen, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the LORD has spoken: “I have raised children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against Me. The heavens and earth in Bible prophecy represented the old covenant people, old covenant law and the Temple system. Until heaven and the earth pass away not one jot or tittle will pass from the law until all be fulfilled Rev. 21:1-3 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, (covenant, people, city)”a for the first heaven (covenant) and the first earth (people, city) had passed away, (unbelieving Jews, old covenant, literal city of Jerusalem passed) and there was no longer any sea.(The sea represents people in the bible and this sea is referring to the Jews who died in 70 A.D) 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God (The new Jerusalem city represents the church they came out of the old covenant heaven), prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband (The New Jerusalem city which was the church was the bride who was marrying her husband Jesus Christ). 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” Heb. 8:13 "In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. - even though the law was made obsolete. It was still ready to vanish after the cross. What Jesus did at Calvary took complete effect when he returned in 70 A.D. with forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9: 28so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him. Under the old covenant when a man became engaged it was looked at as a bride without the consummation. If the woman after engagement cheated she was stoned. God was married to Israel but until 70 A.D. he was not free to allow his son to marry his engaged bride. In 70 A.D. the marriage of Jesus to the early church took place. I do not believe that it was a coincidence that the Romans who were used for judgment against Israel stoned them with gigantic rocks. The adulterous old covenant bride was stoned for her adultery. Israel was the mother of all harlots. Compare revelations description of her with Deuteronomy's description of the high priest. Rev. 17:4-6 4And the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls. She held in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. 5On her forehead a mysterious name was written: Babylon the Great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth. 6I could see that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and of the witnesses for Jesus. And I was utterly amazed at the sight of her. . Also, Exodus 39:8-14
"They fashioned the breastplate -- the work of a skilled craftsman. They made it like the ephod: of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen. It was square -- a span long and a span wide -- and folded double. Then they mounted four rows of precious stones on it. The first row was ruby, chrysolite, and beryl; the second row was turquoise, sapphire and emerald; the third row was jacinth, agate, and amethyst; the fourth row was topaz, onyx, and jasper. They were mounted in gold filigree settings. There were twelve stones, one for each of the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the 12 tribes." It was Israel that persecuted the early church in Rev. 17. It was Israel that was guilty of all the righteous blood shed on the earth Matt. 23:35. the mother of all harlots was drunk with a blood of the saints she persecuted the church. Abraham had Sarah and the concubine. God didn't allow him to have two women at the same time for very long before the concubine was sent away. It was the same for old covenant Israel. . He had two brides temporarily Two overlapping covenants temporarily 30 A.D-70 A.D.
