Revelation 21:4 ... And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Now many look for this in the future. This will be the case one-day in heaven in the literal sense but that is not what is being described here. Again scripture must interpret scripture. We must look into Isaiah once again.
Isaiah 65:19 ... And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
This there again is prophetic and right after the new heavens-New covenant of Grace-and new earth are created in Isaiah 65:17. This is all telling of Christ coming, as we will show even further.
Isaiah 25:7-9 ... 7) And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.-This is to the veil that was on Moses his face.-8) He will swallow up - spiritual-death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; - the tears from being separated from God at the fall-and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. 9) And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us:- new covenant salvation- this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
When did the Lord wipe tears from off all faces? He did at the coming of Christ. As verse 9 says that we have waited on him, and he will save us ... we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. The salvation that was prophesied here was prophesied of Christ and His saving power at his final coming. the closer it got to Jesus returning in the clouds of judgment while using clouds for his presence in 70 A.D. Jewish Roman war. The disciples said, our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. What Jesus did at Calvary would go into total effect at his last day coming.Heb.9:28 when he would return with forgiveness of sins establishing what he did at Calvary. It was the last days of the Mosaic age of law keeping passed away so that the New World or age to come grace was established
How can Christ coming be future when 1. Matt.26:64 Jesus told the high priest you will see me coming in the clouds and their dead? -They are dead. 2. Matt.16:28 Jesus told his disciples some of them wouldn't die until you see me coming in the kingdom. - they are dead- 3. Matt.10:23 Jesus told his disciples they wouldn't finish going through Israel until he came-they are dead- 4. Jesus told that generation that their generation wouldn't pass away until ALL things be fulfilled 5. The bible says, those who pierced Christ would see him coming in the clouds of heaven.-They are dead-5. Luke 21:22 These be they days of vengeance in which ALL things which are written must be fulfilled.
Let me give you some Scriptures from the Old Testament. God came in the clouds when he was judging a nation using another nations army. God comes to an end Saul's kingdom 1000 BC 2 sam 22:8, God comes in the clouds against ancient Egypt 700's BC Isaiah 19:1-2, Ezekiel 30:3, God comes to judge Nineveh in the clouds 600's BC Nahum 2:1-6, Zephaniah 1:14-17, Joel 1: 2-11. the early church knew this and was very familiar with what coming in the clouds was referring to. God's judgment on a nation that would not repent using another nation..
