LASRE EXPERIMENTAL 1S-FF
1S-U engine used as basis for this FF version. More compact, with careful attention paid to reducing weight without sacrificing performance. This top-flight powerplant offers the driver a superb sporty feeling. Developed into the production 1S-LU engine used in the SV10 Camry / Vista. 1S engine is the world's first featuring hollow camshaft with sintered lobes and sintered forged connecting rods. Debuted at the 1981 Tokyo Motor Show in the Toyota F-120 Concept Vehicle which later became the SV10 Toyota Camry / Vista.

Developed into the production 1C diesel engine. Lightweight, compact 1.8L diesel engine developed to realize optimum fuel efficiency, superb power performance and low noise levels. Major characteristics include: direct drive OHC design with aluminum cylinder heads, multiple-pulley drive, tooth-grooved timing belt and small-size injectors.

1G-GEU engine used as basis. The Experimental 1G Twin Cam 24 Twin Turbo is Toyota's finest engine, using Toyota's most advanced technology. It is basically the 1G Twin Cam 24 high-performance unit that won the prestigious Medal for Technology of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in 1982. The engine has been fitted with two turbochargers and a cooling-type intercooler. Developed into the production 1G-GTEU engine.
