Lexington
The Lexington parachuting operation is located approximately 14 miles north of Giddings and it is noted on the sectional.
Some research and SCOH member experiences (as of July 2013) on the location suggests the following:
Lexington does NOT announce their jumps on a local frequency.
They DO communicate with Austin approach (127.225 as listed on sectional) on every jump flight. Listening to 127.225 when you are within 5-10 miles of Lexington will dramatically increase your situational awareness of the jumping activity. Talking to Austin approach is even better. See example - CLICK HERE.
Austin Approach can "see" transponder equipped gliders and will give traffic advisories to the jump plane.
Austin Approach suggests contacting them 5-10 miles before flying past Lexington to learn about the jumping activity at that moment.
They fly 7 days a week, how often depending on how many jumpers show up.
They fly 2 Cessna 182's, maximum jump altitude is usually around 11,000ft.
