Flight Track Files

A Condor Flight Track file (.ftr) is similar to an IGC file in that it allows you to analyze your flight using Condor’s Flight Analysis function. The effects of crosswinds in the traffic pattern are easily seen by examining the ground track resulting from varying degrees of crosswind correction. The flight track files in the folder below have already been created by Scott Manley and are instructive when teaching/learning about the lesson plan called "Crosswind Pattern". You can also create and view your own flight track files within Condor.

1. You MUST upgrade (free if you already bought Condor) to the latest version of Condor, 1.1.5. To see what version that you have now, start the Condor program on your PC. The version number is at the top of the Condor pop-up window. To upgrade, go HERE, read through the directions and determine which file(s) that you need to download.

2. As a matter of convenience, you can find all the "flight track" files in this Google drive folder.

3. Move the "flight track" files (they have a suffix of .ftr) into the following folder on your PC.

C: > Program Files (x86) > Condor > FlightTracks

4. Start the Condor program, if not already.

5. Select "Flight Analysis"

6. Select "Load", pick the desired track, then "OK"

Select the flight track as required for the maneuver that you want to practice. To understand the context of these "flight track" files, it is necessary to read the appropriate lesson plan at Scott Manley's Condor website, glidercfi.com. Follow this path to see each lesson plan and its associated flight track file.
