Cavers: SteveBus, Brían, Al

Trip time: 1.75 hours

A mud cleaning trip after Deep Pot, and to check out one of the leads spotted in August.

The water seemed a bit high so Bus decided to send Brían and i in to check. It was fine, though higher than i'd seen it before, so Brían and i continued to the sump while Bus changed, and then we met him on our way back. The climb led to a tight rift with snaggy walls, with boulders in the floor. Bus had removed some of these but there was one blocking the way on that was too big to move back in the constricted space. I took a look, while Brían and Bus went upstream to check in case the rift was just an oxbow. It doesn't appear to be. I thought there was a draught going inwards, and there was also some green lichen around the entrance to the rift (don't know what this would signify). Bus had left the sleeping troll rock that perches above the climb up, i gave it a good kicking and crowbaring but couldn't dislodge it so it may be more asleep than it appears. Another dig worth returning to, with a hammer and chisel to break up the blocking slab.

After another mud-washing session we headed out.
