Shannon, Scaff Hauls, 28 and 29 July, 05 August 2018

As Georges is a bit shook at the moment, it seems like a good thing to shore it up further. With that in mind scaff bars and couplers have been acquired and a few trips have hauled it as far as Mistake Junction.

Under the guise of showing off Shannon to some cavers from Reading University we took the opportunity to carry some scaff down to the end of the Sandy Crawl.

28 July, Adam Prior, Emily Punzalan, with Duncan and Imogen from Reading - Three short bars, five couplers.

29 July, Petie Barry, with Chris, Barry and Ivan from Reading - One long bar, two couplers

Then on Sunday 05 August myself, Emily and Sheldon Hentschke brought these as far as Mistake Choke, despite various ailments (hangover, fever, sleep deprivation). A pair of couplers were dead weight and were left on a prominent rock just before the low wet bit going down Mainstream.

There remains two short bars and three couplers on the ledge under Les's climb that were brought in around 2011. On the next trip hopefully these will be gathered up and carried down to Georges along with the rest of the scaff.
