Shannon Group Photobucket account

Post date: Jul 27, 2010 9:44:02 PM

We've started a Photobucket account on which to host trip report photographs. The username is Shannon_Group, and if you'd like the password to start uploading photographs you can get it from Muh or myself.

The album can be found here.

Uploading is simple. When you log-in to the account you'll get an 'upload now' button in the centre of the page which allows you to select one or more photographs from your computer to upload. Before uploading make sure that you're uploading to the correct album (currently arranged by caving area aka counties) - just open the existing relevant album before beginning to upload. If you aren't in an album you'll just upload photographs on the 'home page' of the Shannon Group account, so they won't be classified.

If you need to make a new album this can be done through the control on the left hand side - just enter the name. If you open an existing album and then create a new album you'll make an album within that album.

Titles can be added to photographs, but since most will view the photographs through the trip reports this may be unnecessary.

Please note that if photographs need to be moved around between albums this will break any links to where they are displayed on the Shannon website!

To display a photograph in your trip report, click 'insert' on the menu bar (top left of the editing pane), then 'image', then select 'web address (URL)', and copy in the URL from Photobucket, wait until the thumbnail is displayed, then click 'ok'. To get the URL from the Photobucket page, hover over the photograph and a drop-down list will appear below - copy the URL from the box titled 'direct link'.

When the photograph is inserted you get some basic editing functions to position it on the page and resize it. It seems to look best if you click the 'L' to resize it - clicking on the photograph then brings up the full size as saved on Photobucket. If the size isn't reduced the photograph will appear in the report at the original dimensions saved on Photobucket.

If these instructions don't make sense i'll improve them accordingly...
