Plan of the day was to finish surveying the high level passages around Mayfly. However with the level of rain in the past few weeks we weren’t certain whether we would get that far with potentially high water levels.

With my wrist still on the mend and this being the longest caving trip I’d done since the fall, I felt that holding on to the rope at Swingers’ Corner might not be the best plan. So instead we opted for the high level bypass of Swingers’ Corner. This route brought us through all the high level passages that Petie had been surveying (Absalom’s Attic, Vegetable Patch Penthouse). This was an exciting route with some lovely pretties, however lots of it was very loose and we had the pleasure of knocking down some large boulders. The touristy bypass route took longer than intended, so it was decided that we would not have enough time to continue with the original plan. Instead we surveyed Hidden Parallel Passage (just upstream of Mistake Junction).

On the way out, while myself and Eoghan stayed warm under the Kishu, Steve and Petie also surveyed a small dry oxbox at the Anvil.

Total Surveyed: 91m
