The following was covered in class this week:

• We practiced कर्मपदानि forms in द्वितीया विभक्ति by going through the the previous lessons which can be found here.
• We practiced लट्/लोट् लकारः forms of क्रियापदानि. And learned that while लट् लकारः indicates वर्तमान कालः/present tense, लोट् लकारः indicates आज्ञासूचक/imperative or command tense. See learning aid here.
  • We did अभ्यासम् of लोट् लकारः with भवान् /भवती. Ex: भवान् पठतु , भवती लिखतु etc
  • We also played a game where all kids sat in a circle and used आज्ञासूचक वाक्यम् on their neighbor. For example: भवान् पततु, भवान् उत्पततु , भवान् _____ etc. If the अध्यापिका stood in between they had to change the वाक्यम् to भवती _____. Kids who couldn't think of क्रियापदानि or their लोट् लकारः form or messed up with the भवान् /भवती got out.
• We had a dictation of words starting with [च छ ज झ ञ] and ज्ञ . See here.
• We practiced shlokAs असतोमा and सहना ववतु with their meanings.
• We learned a new subhAshitam गङ्गा पापं शशी तापं . That can be found here.

The following was covered in class this week:

• We revised adverbs/क्रिया विशेषणानि.
• We revised लट्/लोट् लकारः forms of क्रियापदानि. See learning aid here.
• We learned that the बहु वचनम् form of अहं is वयं
• We learned the उत्तम पुरुष बहु वचनम् forms of all क्रियापदानि. See list here .
  • We then formed two teams and practiced all forms of क्रियापदानि by having a dumb charades based quiz/game. The kids had to pick a क्रियापदम् and enact. Once the क्रियापदम् was guessed, the team had to come up with 5 sentences. For example: If the word was खादति
    1. अहं खादामि
    2. वयं खादामः
    3. सः शीघ्रम् खादति
    4. ते शीघ्रम् खादन्ति
    5. भवती खादतु
• We practiced the subhAshitam गङ्गा पापं शशी तापं . Some kids had learned it and recited it. We also practiced the सुभाषितानि from last year:
  • पुस्तकेषु च या विद्या
  • जीवितं यः स्वयं चेच्छेत्
  • व्यायामात् लभते स्वास्थ्यं
• The kids lastly took turns to read from सचित्र महाभारतम्

The following was covered in class this week:

• We revised समयः. See this pdf. We played a game with the kids split into two teams and each team having to identify the time written on a randomly picked chit
• We revised writing सङ्ख्याः in Samskritam.
• We revised सङ्ख्याः from 1-100. See this. We played a game where kids picked from a pile of chits a number (written in Samskritam) and an operation (+, -, * ), then applied the operation to a previously deduced answer and came up with a new answer. The kid whose turn it was not only answered it in Samskritam but also wrote the answer in an empty chit in Samskritam and placed it on the board. The game then continued to the next player.
• SrividyA bhagini narrated the story titled: सत्यमेव जयते . The moral of the story was: सत्यं वद धर्मं चर. We came across the following words in the story:
  • काष्ठिकः - wood cutter
  • परशुः - axe
  • स्वर्णः - gold
  • रजतः - silver
  • नदी - river
  • नदी देवता - river goddess

We had a combined class with Sindhu gaNa this week. We revised the following:

• We revised the following by forming answers to कुत्र?
  • अत्र
  • तत्र
  • सर्वत्र
  • एकत्र
  • अन्यत्र
