We covered the following topics during this weekend:

• We revised a part of the homework related to sarvanAmapadAni/lingabhedah. See matching exercises at the end of the pdf
• We revised samyuktAksharAni in general. Covered the 9 special cases . We did an exercise where kids came up with their own examples and split the words. We also learned the difference in writing a samyuktAksharam when र is before or after a consonant/व्यञ्जनम् . Please see the list below.
  1. क्ष - ex : आरक्षकः (police), पक्षः (wing), शिक्षा (learning)
  2. त्र - ex : त्रीणि (three), नेत्रम् (eye)
  3. ज्ञ - ex : यज्ञः (sacrifice), ज्ञानम् (wisdom), विज्ञानम् (science)
  4. श्र - ex : श्रीमन्तः (wealthy/rich), श्रीनिकेतः, श्रीवत्सवः (example nouns)
  5. क्त - ex : रक्तः (red color), युक्तः (worthy)
  6. द्य - ex : विद्या (knowledge/learning) , अद्य (today)
  7. द्म - ex : पद्मः (lotus)
  8. ह्म - ex :
  9. ह्य - ex : ह्यः (yesterday), सह्यः (tolerable)
  10. र्क , र्य - ex: आचार्यः (teacher), तर्कः (logic) - र before a व्यञ्जनम्
  11. क्र , ग्र - ex : चक्रम् (wheel) , ग्रहः (planet) - र after a व्यञ्जनम्

word splitting example: आचार्यः = आ + च् + आ + र् + य् + अः

• We learned a new subhAshitam (jIvitam svayam checchet). See subhAshitAni page. This subhAshitam is about empathy. The kids asked for the difference between sympathy and empathy, around which we had a small discussion. I have added some related pictures.

• Sanjay and Vittal taught subhAshitam chAyAmanyasya to Sindhu kids
• We also learned about the Great Sage Veda VyAsa

We revised the following topics during this week's class:

• SamruktAksharANI - the kids had to remember all the special cases we learned during last class. They came up with examples for each one of them as a group and wrote it on the board.
• Vruttayah (Professions) - we revised professions. Please see Professionals.pdf and वृत्तयः.pdf
• There was dictation where the kids translated English words to Sanskrit and wrote it down in their books. The list is as below. See 40 words list.pdf for more examples.

• Sanjay recited the subhAshitam jIvitam yah svayam

Lastly, we had a quiz where the kids were divided into 2 teams and each team had to come up with one पुंल्लिङ्ग and one स्त्रीलिङ्ग word and wrote it on the board.

During this week's class, we revised the following:

• lingabhedAh, sarvanAmapadAni. The kids practiced matching sarvanAmapadAni ekavachana to bahuvachana rUpANi. See sarvanAmapadAni pdf
• bahuvachana rUpANi for kriyApadAni from last year. See kriyApadAni. We did some exercises to match kriyApadAni to sarvanAmapadAni and nAmapadAni of right vachana. See end of pdf sarvanAmapadAni

The kids split the eka vachana and bahu vachana form of a kriyApada to understand the difference better and identified the samyuktAksharANi in the bahu vachana form
