Hi Everyone,

I decided to make the front page of my web site shorter and fill it with a briefer description of my life recently. Here are the links to previous home page of Dec 27, and earlier, a family photo album, the Rambo Family Tree and other pages.

The most recent major event in my life is still the death of my mother on July 3, 2001. Time is helping, but I still miss her greatly and often. The travelogue about our trip to Hawaii is still only a draft and outline. Maybe I'll get more written soon.

Moving on, literally, I did move out of the house in Staunton and onto the motorcycle "for the rest fo my life", only two months behind schedule. The storage locker is too full to describe adequately. It was only a mild disappointment to pack up the train layout before getting all the track laid. (At the Library of Congress in 2001 I did copy the December 1958 Boys' Life article describing the folded dogbone layout I built as a teenager.)

That stop at the Library of Congress occurred during my "short" motorcycle trip last fall when I motorcycled to a wedding in D.C. on Sept. 23rd, to New Hampshire for leaf peeping until Oct. 25th, to West Virginia, to Annapolis, to South Carolina, and back through Ohio to Staunton by Dec. 16. This trip deserves a travelog, especially concerning the dangers of Cuervo Gold.

Last summer I neglected to collect e-mail while working in Olympia, Washington during August, was unable to collect it following September 11, and had no computer with me during my fall trip. Both AOL and hotmail discarded my messages from August 2nd until mid-November. If you sent me a message within that time period, I didn't receive it. My apologies. AOL and Hotmail changed policies without informing their users.

My sometimes job afforded me an apartment in Olympia, Washington from mid-April to mid-June. That is one beautiful place with pleasant temperatures. It looks like an ideal city to invest in a house downtown. I also worked most of August in Silver Spring, Maryland where I thoroughly enjoyed running through the woods daily with Xena the dog.

About forty cousins showed up for our Rambo family reunion on July 4th at the lodge in Lacy Keosauqua State Park.

For the first three months of 2002 I ran every day without fail. I was tremendously disappointed when my friend Paul returned to Edwardsville, Illinois in April and timed my mile at 6:54, much slower than the 6:29 I ran the previous Sept. 12th. I finally realized that all winter I had run outdoors and ran slow to avoid pulling tight muscles. I trained to run slow and indeed, I was able to run slow. Fooey. There was no adult basketball in Staunton. I would never have moved from Belleville if I had realized that Mom would die so soon. I am still taking half an aspirin daily to see if that helps.

My plantar facitis is much improved thanks to exercises Marsha recommended. My carpal tunnel is not noticeable as long as I take Glucosamine Sulfate with MSM consistently. All in all, I'm delighted to be pain-free for the first time in several years.

That is it for the front page. I do apologize for writing so seldom these last few years. Genealogy and travel keep me busy, busy, busy. My e-mail address is RSBeatty@gmail.com.
