plans for 2005

Ron Beatty's plans for 2005, last updated 5 Feb 2005

Again my plans are nearly a carbon copy of my plans for last year & the year before: finish the Rambo genealogy in early spring; hike the Appalachian Trail all summer and fall (with a break to hitch hike to New Mexico for John & Linda's wedding anniversary celebration on top of Santa Fe Baldy); and spend the winter with Bill in the Florida Keys. (In other words I didn't finish the Rambo book last year but I did finish data entry - twice; and I'm proud to announce that I did hike 200 yards on the Appalachian Trail.)

I always have lots of plans. Some I do on time, others late, most get postponed indefinitely. I've learned not to have my surface mail forwarded to me where I expect to be in the future since occasionally I never get to where I expect to be, much less on time.

This winter I'm again in the Florida Keys providing Bill with company. He is a good friend and a nice guy who certainly does NOT deserve the mysterious ailment which is afflicting him. When I arrived here, the plan was to provide Bill company while finishing The Rambo Family Tree genealogy. Now I'm trying to convince Bill to purposely make his symptoms worse while he endures the chelation that promises to rid his body of the excessive amounts of lead, arsenic, and mercury he has accummulated over his lifetime.

Rambo book compulsive/obsessive behavior will again be the norm. Last year I flew the coop in mid-August thanks to my friend Lee. (That travelog is already available.) This year I'll leave earlier. I still need to assess my financial investments. I still do plan to finish the Rambo book before moving on to any other major projects. I expect it to exceed 3,000 pages.

The next computer project stalled, but I have a good start for the genealogical index of a multitude of genealogical and historical books. I'll use Java to put the index onto a website and charge $.50 per name for people to look up their genealogical names in ALL the books indexed at once. My buddies interest in Java flagged, and progress on this site flagged in sync ... but after I finish the Rambo genealogy, progress will resume.

Unless Bill is actively chelating and needs company, I'll spend another couple of weeks with the Gowdys in Columbia doing yard work before I start hiking the Appalachian Trail. The Johnson grass was substantially gone when I saw their yard in December 2004.

If you want to assess my track record concerning plans, here are past plans.

5 February 2005, and

27 January 2004, and

27 December 2001, and

7 Jul 2000.
